"Simple question, yes or no!
Do you send a friends requests just to see the friends pictures?

No, typically I’ll only send one if I’ve chatted with them for a while and asked if it’s ok. I ask so that they then are easier to follow with regards to statuses etc. |

No, many couples and females complain of receiving too many unsolicited friend requests. I would not risk being blocked by someone I'm trying to approach.
Better to chat up and then send the request |

No. I get absolutely flogged to death by people sending me them, and mostly those who’ve never messaged me before. I’ve now learned if I don’t delete them, they can’t keep doing it, so there they stay! |

No it’s to try to start a conversation, because I am rubbish at pithy messages and winks are wank IMO. But have realised that friend requests mean different things to different people and some find it weird that randoms want to be friends |

No.
I would only consider doing so after swapping some messages. |

Thanks for all the response, they're very interesting and some confirm my experiences and thoughts.
I am trying to gauge if it's worth having friends pics on my account as I feel that it attracts more time wasters which is not great.
I also wonder if once a friend has been excepted and if there is no conversation over a few week, is it worth unfriending as this would appear rude,

No, my friends are people I've either met of have every intention of meeting.
Besides, many people's friends only pics are no more revealing than their public ones
I use the friends thing so that their notifications are at the top of my feed! |

No - we don’t send friend requests, and only accept very few. We’ve had a maximum of 5 since we started here a few months ago, and that list is based on those we feel we have real potential to take things further with.
As others have said, the main benefit is keeping in the loop on notifications, although some of the friends pics are particularly stimulating |
