I worked as a gardener for the few years before I formally retired, but the job also eventually involved a lot more dirty work: cleaning toilets in a factory & tech'y park;
painting fences;
Cleaning gullies & drains;
Working as a yardman, etc.
It was so exhausting that I couldn't have worked on two consecutive days, and the state of my bath, after I had bathed was horrific. The dirtiest job I ever did during my working life, but very satisfying work; I could see what I had done at the end if an extremely long day, with no breaks.
