I believe in the view that it has to do with humiliation/rejection as a child which as a coping mechanism we then convert into a positive through eroticising that feeling. A bad feeling is converted into a comfort blanket. The rejection doesn’t have to be anything serious it could have been something as simple as a ‘look’, being put on the ‘naughty step’ (not a nice thing to do by the way) ….Now I’m probably going to be thrust on the naughty step myself for saying all this. |
