I'm planning a play date with a couple..

Do I make the reservation for myself or for three people?

I don't want an awkward moment when two more people rock up with bags going to a room booked for one .

Any advice?

Should be fine unless they're staying overnight having breakfast etc

Hampshire/Dorset

You can book triple rooms in some hotels, so it shouldn't be an issue. Still the same cost.

Book two adults and a child and front it out.

Have you ever met them in real life before?

Book one where you can get a refund. Not all couples are couples or turn up.

Good luck

This.

Although hard to get a refund once you've checked in.

The golden rule should be that whoever is staying over pays. No need to state the actual number of people that are using the room. We used to book a room for ourselves and then meet others in a bar, then just head up. Reception don't care unless you're walking in with a dozen extras.

Depends on the hotel. Premier Inn etc just walk in. If your worried just don’t be too together

Wirral

For a 1st meet Rach and I cover the cost. That way we get to choose a place that SHE knows and is comfortable with - 1st times (although exciting) can be very nervy.

I use dayuse a lot. Great for meets on neutral ground. Plus I don't really want stranger coming to my home first meets, and good for group sessions.

I have just been trying to book a hotel in Manchester for a Saturday night and I am shocked at the prices. The cheapest I have found is 3 star, no wi-fi, no window £159 !

Upminster

Use Travelodge allow 3 adults in a room or Campinile as they are not connected to the reception.

I will add that most hotel staff have SEEN IT ALL. Literally. They could tell you stories.

So no need to overly worry. You’ve been given good advice up-thread. Have a fun meet!
