Ladies,
Is it just me who gets the ick when strangers call me girl?
Espically on here.
Normally these things don't bother me, wondered if I was alone? |

I don't understand why you would call someone a girl unless you knew them really well and they were, in fact, a girl.
Apparently I shouldn't call women 'ladies', because they are not married to a Lord. I struggle to remember that sometimes. |

As a 52year old bloke, habits aren't easy to break and although this sounds awful, I tend to think:
Female = too scientific.
Lady = smartly dressed, likes to lunch.
Woman = bit militant, bit angry.
Girl = young at heart and playful.
Sexist, misogynistic bollocks I know, but just how my mind works.
If course, I generally use a name, anyway.

I love being referred to in any feminine way … funny old thing xxx.
We are often referred to as ‘T-girls’ … but haven’t ever heard the term ‘t-women’.
I’m going on a ‘girls’ night out tomorrow, and sooo looking forward to it

"The old girl is a term oft used for mother.
My son used it, shortly before I deliver a swift death stare in his direction
An old girl would’ve had heat seeking slippers "
Old I'll gladly own, it's an accurate description.
Girl is not.
A couple once asked to meet us. The guy sent a lengthy fantasy scenario in which he described a scene between his partner and me and described us as 'the girls'. I can't describe how much that made me shudder |
