For some it’s a gentle hint that they like a profile. For those that use winks they might reciprocate, and then take it from there. However, it’s no different than messaging if you don’t get a response, it probably means that you’re not what they are looking for.

If we get a wink I check their profile and if they’re what we are looking for I wink back which I think is like an invitation for them to message

Most winks I get are from people who I'm not interested in (they don't seem to read my profile). A couple have been just to say they like my profile but aren't interested in meeting, which is OK. I have responded to one wink which led to a meet.

So it all depends, as others have said.

Of course "winks" work.

They just don't work with peeps that choose to ignore them.

My experience over the years is that a wink can be an ice breaker to say that i'm interested in a couples profile. If they then look at my profile and "wink" back...................then game on.

Absolutely this . What do you expect it to achieve OP? A wink always works for me in that I will always look back at the person who has winked at me and then I’ll decide from what I see on their profile whether I take things further so in that respect they always work for me. Does that mean I’ll always respond? No, not at all . So maybe that means they don’t work for you ?
