I don’t know how mainstream it is, but does anyone else remember the movie Threesome? It’s an American college film from the mid-‘90s. There's a long answer to this, so I'll try and give a concise as one as possible.
I guess we've always been open, even if it was unsaid (L playing with her best girl friend, a few spontaneous threesomes etc). There were a few conversations over the years about how we were both happy for each other to fuck other people as long as we're completely open about it. But we never did anything about it.
2021 I brought it up as a proper conversation; less for me, more for her as a chance to start feeling free again (from life, I ain't no shackle!). Annnnd it's something we've ran with ever since. It's been nothing but great for us, and even led to a realisation that we're almost definitely poly. |

I think if I had the guts to have open, honest conversations with quite a few of my partners when I was younger, I’d have fallen into swinging a lot earlier than I actually eventually did. I think more of them would have been into it than I ever thought back then.
I had an affair with one girl that lasted years. Longer than my ‘official’ relationships at the time. But she was always my bit on the side. Looking back, that was massively disrespectful - even though being the mistress specifically turned her on. I should have been with her, in an open relationship. Well I guess that would be a case of owning our very own swingers club so we could have it just the way we want and hold different themed events all the time.
