We don’t use what’s app groups for this kinda thing as you have to give your number to strangers.

We use kik altho it doesn’t seem to be as good as it used to be

Kik sucks!! Telegram is good so is hangouts if ur calling

I think quite a few people are using discord these days its a good platform and you don't get the spam like on kik which can be a bit annoying.

You're right, Kik has definitely changed and got a bit clunky, Telegram seems a lot better at the moment...
