"Agreed. I don't want to give my number out to a complete stranger."

We’ve just had one, saying that’s the only way they can verify who they are by sending photos as they can only upload one a day in messages.

Said we are happy to wait until they are verified.

If they've had it before, yeah.

But usually after a good bit of conversation perhaps.

An alternative means of contact for someone you're interested in for real is a good way to stop them getting lost in the message noise.

This particular ‘couple’ have only been on the site a day or so, not paying for gold/silver and have one photo of a pair of trousers. First message is ‘let’s have your number so we can WhatsApp pictures of ourselves’

Not for us thanks, we’ll wait

We insist on WhatsApp after a few messages if we plan to meet but we use a burner phone.

In the early days someone made reference to things they could only have seen on Facebook by following the number link.

I've never gave my number out to anyone in the 7 years I've been on here let alone a new unverified profile. Don't take up forum space with this crap

Yeah same for us. We used to get asked all the time so we put it on our profile that we don't send pics on it.

Sone people just rush into chats like they have 30 seconds to get your number and you to confirm you will meet that that day. Hasn't worked out for one person that way with us.

Red flag

Asking about kik, red flag

Sending their phone number, red flag

It's like Liverpool v Man Utd

Beyond the shadows.

I wouldn't say it's a red flag for me. Some people prefer to have a 3 way chat but I'd just politely decline to give out my number unless we were friends already and suggest an alternative platform.

I don't use kik or any other app, if I like someone I will give out my number.

Usually this is after a lottttttt of messages on here first.

Though I have in the past given it out after just a handful of messages, sometimes you just know that you like someone.

There a million other things that a more of a red flag for me that someone asking for my number.

We’d only be sharing WhatsApp details when we were intending to meet or have a video call.

We like to keep our personal life / private number exactly that. Happy to arrange socials as we go like to go out anyway so it works well either way for us just to meet in person, sieves out the time wasters x

This is my approach. You can tell how genuine someone is by their messaging and how they come across. If someone gives a good vibe, then it’s all good. Whatsapp does let you block people you know

Smells like a pic collector but could just be the kid in the candy shop over eagerness of a newbie, if they are genuine they will wait untill your happy to exchange this at the right time for all concerned.

"Red flag for us, what about you? "

We never use WhatsApp for fab related chat, Telegram is much better and you can keep your phone number (which often links to social media) private.

We do like to move over to chat once we have decided we would probably like to meet the person/people as it gives everyone the chance to interact rather than one person from a couple doing all the talking.

We tend to use what's app for group chats it's just easier to know who's talking, but if someone didn't want to it's no problem, I don't see it as a red flag though. 3/4 way conversations between 2 profiles can be tricky on here.

It's a red flag for me. I don't use WhatsApp for conversations with anyone on here. I also do not give out my number to anyone who asks. The only people who get that are those I know well and know I can trust. I have no interest in using a second phone for fab so I won't give out my number .If that doesn't suit others they can move on to someone else . Bo .

If we like the person I can't see an issue with it but I must admit I've had to use that block button quite a lot
