sometimes it's just when they're quite new, we used to put it (I'll rush off and check in a minute because it still might be on there) because for some strange reason we thought people might come into the pub or where ever with a big hat on saying "I am meeting these people with a view to having sex with them". Now we know that only happens very rarely we're a bit more relaxed  |

I think in some cases it can mean just that.
In the majority of cases however, I think it has absolutely no meaning whatsoever.
I think people bung it in there because they think people expect to see it.
It is almost as over used as the word 'genuine'
As a re-assurance it offers no one any assurance whatsoever. |

Along with the use of 'NSA', we usually take 'discreet' as a sign that they are somewhat new to the scene and don't understand that discretion is a 'given' (or should be...).
As for my 'We're here to shag 'em' hat, well that hasn't been out of the wardrobe for some months now... must give it an airing...

When I see 'discrete' on a profile, I assume either the person who wrote it can't spell, or is after a series of one-night stands:
discrete = separate, not continuous.
discreet = prudent; not giving away secrets; unobtrusive. |
