judging by the responses and thanks for them it seems that a bit of spitting is not good.

It's all down to porn films needing to visualise something. Applying saliva as a lube is quite normal but so much more accurate and practical when subtly applied with the tongue. Just doesn't show up on film that way. Personally we hAve both turned off porn films when this technique has been used and would never meet someone again if it happened during a meet.
