Where to start?

How does this journey begin….?

I am intrigued by the world but know very little about it and was wondering how those in the lifestyle found their feet in the venture

Would love to know peoples thoughts

Try and find a local munch which is a kink social to meet like minded and find out about kink in your area and what events may be on

A search for alternative site more dedicated to kink would be a good start, it will list local events, have groups dedicated to different areas of BDSM etc etc

There are a number of books available too, so it all depends on how keen you are to explore and where you want to start

I've never been to a munch, I went to a rope event as a starting point and it was great! Very friendly bunch. And I ended up playing with someone for ages from there.

I just read a lot and talked to a LOT of people and read a lot more and experimented safely with several men and started to get an idea of what kind of kink I enjoyed and what kind of sub I was. There are some BDSM people here, hiding in the shadows and they're great. But the site limits what we can talk about and sometimes I find attracts some quite negative viewpoints. Good luck!

Are you curious as to what it is all about or do you have an area of interest?

If the first point, then I would suggest a copy of screw the roses send me the thorns. Cover bdsm pretty much A to Z and will give a lot of insight and hopefully be a spring board for more research

Sent to Coventry

Definitely start your journey off reading and researching. It’ll help you if you go to social munches as it’ll make it easier for the conversation to flow.

It will also give you the opportunity to think about what interests you most, it’s a very individual/personal journey

I agree, fab isn’t very bdsm/ kink friendly, there are a few of us that lurk but don’t talk much about it on here.

There is a certain fetish site you can find on search engines which is much more bdsm friendly and lots of people to talk to! I also agree with research and understand your feelings and work out where you stand! The is a bdsm test online too, do it truthfully and it will show your personality traits too

London

It would be good if this site had a bdsm thread as there is so so much crossover in this lifestyle and kinks are wide ranging from the softest of spanks to the hardest whipping. I rarely go onto Fet but after recent discussions at the London Bridge social with another dom I can see myself heading to a munch or two real soon. Anatomie is calling me too..
