You'd be absolutely wrong! I'd put my mortgage on it that there's more black guys on here who approve of the symbol on women than those that don't. It's extremely popular in alot of the nights dedicated to interracial play that occur weekly and are advertised daily on here, it's actually embraced within that scene, I've seen it first hand and never heard a negative comment, very different to forum comments here and read time and time again but ah well.

What has any of this to do with my wife's tattoo?

Reply privately, Reply in forum +quote or View forums list

By *harpDressed ManMan  over a year ago

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

"What has any of this to do with my wife's tattoo?"

Well some of it is about your wife, viz a vis her non-appearance in your profile.

And some is about her tattoo, and whether the terminology is problematic these days.

Do know about the historical use of the word "spade"?

You've never heard a negative comment from black men in the environments you frequent because these individuals would sell their souls to please white people and hope for a fuck a out of it, another racist term springs to mind which was used to describe such black men.

If any black men I knew were described as a spade, World War Three would ensue shortly afterwards.

You refer sarcastically to forum comments which challenge this term-but how difficult can it be to describe black men as just that without resorting to racist epithets, frankly it says much about the people who resort to archaic language for the sake of an emotional hard on.

I had an unpleasant tirade of abuse on here for calling a black man a black man, despite the fact that the subject was a guy who approached me through a forum/chat group about that very topic. It seems that no matter what you do or don’t say you’re always going to encounter people who are offended on behalf of somebody else.

Incidentally, I’m hugely turned on by and have met plenty of groundworkers/tradesmen. Does that make me a Queen of Shovels & Picks?

Of course I know it's historical context, I make it my business to do so, for those who would like an insight, visit the Venus Cuckold podcast episode twenty there's an emtymologist explaining this, however I'm not interested in it purely in this context.

You mention the type of black guys including myself who when playing in this lifestyle are selling our souls, well I beg to differ. See I/we view the lifestyle as a fantasy playground for liberated adults under the very same umbrella that bdsm is a part of. Tying women to crosses, beating them with paddles etc., isn't part of everyday vanilla sex but within the lifestyle it's acceptable between mutualy agreed adults, problems occur when lines are blurred.

If I was referred to as a spade in my everyday life I wouldn't be happy at all but we're not talking about everyday life we're talking about the lifestyle with it's different facets, interracial play, interaracial domination/submissive acts and the like, race play even between people who have mutually agreed to play within this fantasy sphere where vanilla rules do not apply in the same way that bdsm is acceptable or any other play that falls under the lifestyle umbrella. Problems only only arise when real world values are applies to lifestyle activity thus a blurring of the lines, do you think you've done this?

Fact, there are a few "terms" that were and possible still are used in a derogatory way that are very similar to this term and used frequently in 70' & 80's TV and film, Blazing Saddles being the obvious one!.

To get a tattoo of it is your own perogative but I'm guessing women that do, don't have them visible in the workplace etc or are honest of the origins. Either way the term "spade" is most definitely considered a racist term as I have known of cases of dismissal using such terms in the workplace. It has nothing to do playing cards either in employment law as its easily traced to the 60,s Black Panther and civil rights movements.

Before I get any grieve I genuinely don't care what others do but because its a "lesser" term than say the N word does not make it ok within the swinging/sex scene. For instance would you say you are OK to tell your children to call someone a Spade!

I've asked guys that we plan to meet if they would be offended by race play, including myself applying a temporary QoS tattoo.

Had a couple of guts who weren't interested in race play but weren't offended by it.

No objections from any about the tattoo.

I don't think majority of ladies with the QOS tattoo, had it with intent to offend but as a fun signaling sigh they like black guys. Which I find no issue with. "Why can’t you just like black guys or be into interracial without the dumb ass tattoo?! "

Because for some people it's all part of the fantasy and scenario.

We wouldn't dream of having one added before meeting unless the guts didn't object.

But it's a kink for some without any other connotations.

Holy shit there are some triggered judgemental people in this thread! How ironic bearing in mind the nature of this website. As someone else said, context is everything and the suggestion by one poster that all black guys at certain events are somehow prepared to sell their dignity for a quick shag, is frankly condescending and insulting. Guess what, I identify as an Exhibitionist Slut and Whore, and I wear anklets and collars proclaiming this, so does that mean I am a traitor to my sex? No, not in the context of the lifestyle, but might do so in a vanilla context. At the risk of a bad pun, these things aren’t black and white.

Quite simple, referring to black people as spades is racist, in whatever context it's used in, we're hardly living in enlightened times where racism doesnt exist and minorities are treated equally are we.

Black men can absolutely choose how they describe themselves, the people they choose to meet likewise, however it doesn't alter that fairly straightforward fact.

Still applying everyday rules to the lifestyle I see, okay let's do this then.

Are the men who whip, slap, spit, spank, tie up women etc., woman beaters/law breakers? I'm guessing logically you answered, no, and the reason is because you've applied lifestyle rules and not the rule of law due to consent. This would be by your own argument completey contridictory to your logic when it comes to your views upon 'race play' within the same lifestyle. On one hand you can see the fantasy bdsm world but cannot or refuse to see the difference in fantasy race play or are you hellbent on denying it exists?

Here's my take on the QOS tattoo 'within the lifestyle'. The overwheling majority of women who wear it are showing their admiration for black men, most are submissive towards these men and do not mean to cause offence, the widely accepted view within their paticular lifestyle crowd.

What annoys me is people trying to tell them what is the right and wrong way to behave in 'their' lifestyle, if the consensus in their play pool was that it's frowned upon they'd know and be told so by their peers and not randoms on forums who frankly just don't get it.

No men like being called that term. Men like sex, and some will pretend to play along with certain things if it gets them sex.

Indifference might be the most positive you’ll find, but definitely never heard of anyone liking it. Myself included.

I don't pretend in the lifestyle. If I see the tattoo my interest peaks, I know she likes guys who look like me, that's as far as it goes in my head (I only think this way in the lifestyle not everyday life). Have to agree that no one wants to be called a spade, that would annoy, I've never heard anyone call anyone a spade in the lifestyle, all hell would break lose. Some will be offended by the tattoo such as yourself that's a given and some won't such as myself, suppose we'll just have to coexist.

It’s not popular in America at all, I spend a lot of time there, most of my friends are American, and I’ve never heard anyone use that phrase. And you’re deffo not the target audience for who gets to decide if it’s offensive

Your mortgage is going down the pan. I personally find the symbol dis-tastful and if anyone understood what it is like to be called a "S". You might have another opinion how people would like to attract black people.

It's funny I have not seen a white man with Ace symbol on them and it would interesting what response they would receive.

These threads are always fun. To the people getting QoS tattoos:

Have fun, but understand that some people find race play offensive and may take issue. Perhaps that is a good thing so you will not attract people that don't want to play into that.

To the people offended by it: Aren't you glad that they're marking themselves? It means you know that they will likely offend you with the way they want to play so you can steer clear if you don't like it.

To the people offended on behalf of other people: Why does it concern you?

To the people who think it is racist in and of itself: It's literally a reference to a suit in a deck of cards which is vaguely phallic and that's really all there is to it. If anything they're calling black penises spades.

Wrong. It seems like you don’t understand it’s meaning. “Spade” is a racial slur for black men that’s used the same as the N word. (Though people don’t use it so much any more).

Nothing to do with a phallic card. People use the card as a covert way of saying the word spade. And why the word spade? Because as stated above it’s a slur for black men.

QoS means “queen of black men” - not “queen of the cards that look like phallic symbols” (which you seemed to say it meant).

" To the people who think it is racist in and of itself: It's literally a reference to a suit in a deck of cards which is vaguely phallic and that's really all there is to it. If anything they're calling black penises spades."

I dont think this is correct. Try reading a Martina Cole book. The term spade is used there as a racial insult.

"Why is that title not contested more? I can’t imagine any black lad I’ve ever known even entertaining someone who calls themselves that… “Queen of what now!?!”

You'd be absolutely wrong! I'd put my mortgage on it that there's more black guys on here who approve of the symbol on women than those that don't. It's extremely popular in alot of the nights dedicated to interracial play that occur weekly and are advertised daily on here, it's actually embraced within that scene, I've seen it first hand and never heard a negative comment, very different to forum comments here and read time and time again but ah well."

Can’t argue with that.

As it has been a rainy day, I have spent some time researching my memory of reading a book in the early 1960s where the term 'spades' first came to my notice as a schoolboy growing up on an island where there was only one black schoolboy.

It turned out to be Absolute Beginners (1959) by Colin MacInnes and was about life in West London at the time.

I am absolutely certain that the term derived from the expression 'as black as the Ace of Spades' to which I have already alluded.

I cannot see the connection between the most unphallic symbol portrayed on the card being anything but absolute poppycock of the type that so many urban myths are mistakenly grown from.

Ironically, I did find an internet explanation that the Ace of Spades symbol represented the female pudenda. Even that required some imagination!

We live in a mixed up world when the word 'black' carries a sense of guilt over its use in a non offensive situation and therefore has to be replaced with the ridiculously clumsy 'people of colour', which I dislike purely on its sounding like dreadful English.

Back to the original post from a male only couple without any confirmatory pictures, are we going to be told whether the tattoo consists of words only or a representation of the playing card?

The discussion might have been assisted from the start had such information been supplied.

I don't even recollect being told we have to go in Manchester tonight in order to find out.

It’s an interesting one because it’s seem that all you have heard from in here are the black guys who don’t mind it….

Now it’s time to hear from the other side… don’t worry I’ll get called a sell out!

For me it’s an instant turn off…. I have said no thank you to people I have seen have them, I have politely told them as to why!

I warn people that it will turn off as many of the people you are trying to attract as will turn on… and I am not and never will be anyones “spade” with all the connotations surrounding it…

There are other ways that people can show appreciation for a subject without having something quite as divisive

If other black guys want to think with there dicks and will put up with anything in the pursuit of getting it wet… then good for them!!! But for me my integrity will always come first….

And let the incoming commence

Well that's depends upon the environment, I mean club F for example most nights won't attract a large amount of people into the interracial scene, you turn up with the tattoo expect some side glances, target your audience and all that. I've been to events where it's an interracial specific theme, QOS tattoos a plenty, not once have I had encountered anyone who views me as 'their spade', if I'd felt like I was being used as their plaything the interest would end there. I make it my business to ask them why they have the tattoo and the overiding answer is that they appreciate black men and want to display their lifestyle choice which I have no issue with.

"If other black guys want to think with there dicks and will put up with anything in the pursuit of getting it wet… then good for them!!! But for me my integrity will always come first…. "

I do take issue with this comment. I take great pride in the way I present myself, desperation isn't a great look, getting the dick wet at the cost of self respect isn't up for negotiation. Me playing with anyone depends upon our chemistry, how we get on regardless of their tattoos, remember it doesn't bother me as I've never encountered any negativity from anyone displaying the tattoo. The only negativity I've witnessed are from those who have a predisposition towards the tattoo wearers and those not in the interracial scene within the lifestyle but judge from a distance.

"Their little spade?"

As I've said before if people were to go around saying that and it not be part of an agreed race play 'scene' all hell would break out, that sort of language wouldn't and as far as I've seen tolerated. "But they're displaying the clearly racist QOS tattoo" I hear some say, well racists don't tend to seek out other races to put their penises inside them in the main.

Inboxes? Yeah, a few in here too.

This is pretty much the whole point, describing the taboo nature of interacial sex for some, they can only regard a black man as a "spade", "bbc" etc, not as a human being, that would be too demanding on their personal sensitivities.

There are plenty of white women, men and couples who are into interracial sex and don't make a point of fetishing black/asian people or calling it 'taboo' would it not be better to focus on those people inside of those who insist on using terms like BBC and blacked?

Us 'usual detractors' are not against interracial pairings at all.

What our issue is with white people who use being into black men or women as an excuse to be openly racist.

"

What annoys me is people trying to tell them what is the right and wrong way to behave in 'their' lifestyle, if the consensus in their play pool was that it's frowned upon they'd know and be told so by their peers and not randoms on forums who frankly just don't get it."
