Is it true that it's required for UK travellers to pay $35.000 travel insurance if traveling to South East Asia?
It seems crazy, for sure it's not true right? anyone been? |

Believe for Thailand it’s a minimum insurance coverage of $10k and they’ve added a new tourist tax on entry that’s somewhere around $20. Haven’t checked any other countries in that region recently.
Not sure about $35k as a figure but that’s pennies when it comes to insurance. Think it’s fair especially with covid that they make sure people visiting have adequate coverage and don’t become a burden.
At that figure though you could pay yourself, advice would be if your travelling, to get coverage a lot higher than that, most policies including our own run into the millions, and that is easily hit if something goes wrong. Friend of ours got airlifted off a mountain after skiing into a rock and the bill was eye watering.
Hope you have a great trip wherever you’re heading and that you never ever have to look at your insurance policy, but would suggest you get the most comprehensive coverage you can incase you ever need to use it.
