Does anyone actually know the statistics of gay men in this country?
I keep getting loads of messages to suck my hubby's cock.
I'm the only female in my office of over a hundred.
Can't stop thinking how many of them are gay? |

I just Googled it and found this courtesy of The Independent.
Just one in 100 people in the UK say they are gay or lesbian, according to statistics on sexuality published for the first time today.
A further one in every 200 people are bisexual, according to the data published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
The information collected as part of the new Integrated Household Survey (IHS) means that nearly three-quarters of a million UK adults say they are gay, lesbian or bisexual.
More than 480,000 consider themselves to be gay or lesbian and a further 245,000 say they are bisexual.
The IHS is the largest social survey ever produced by the ONS and contains information provided by nearly 450,000 people - the biggest pool of UK social data after the Census. |

Putting it another way, there are 480000 OPENLY homosexual people in the country and 245000 OPENLY bisexual people.
But as not only Peter Tatchell knows there are many more CLOSET homosexuals and bisexuals, as well as those who clearly are either homosexual or bisexual but are in denial such as those who on another swinging site enter a chatroom headed "Straight men who like sucking cock". (ludicrous, I know).

I think the better quality studies suggest that the number of gay men, as in attracted to other males, is steady in all societies around the world at 4%. The percentage of lesbians is much smaller than gay men (less than 2%) and there are very very few bisexuals.
I know this seems wrong, but this is purely in terms of men who when tested find the appearance of other men attractive, as opposed to women. It seems people either prefer one sex or another, not a sliding scale as is commonly thought.
However, the issue is muddied because other factors play a part. Someone with a degree of nymphomania will find their sex drive will over ride there preferences for instance. Many guys don't actually find other men attractive, but find the allure of the forbidden fruit trumps this.
