So what does a wink mean to you?
To show an interest or just as an appreciation of a profile you like (or any other reason).
For us it shows an interest in a person/couple that we would be keen to meet. There for I'd never send a wink if a person is the other side of the country. In this case I'd probably fab their pics.
However, we get a lot of winks from people over 200 miles away. So I'm guessing the reason for the wink is different?
Just to add, I know a lot of people really don't like winks and that's fine too, but those that use the feature, what's your reason? |

The wink thing really confuses me. I get a wink, I will message them if I see something im interested in, but get blanked? |

I wink a profile for two reasons.
1) I think of it to show my interest towards them as many couples prefer to initiate a conversation only if and when they are looking for single males such as myself. So it’s my way of putting my profile out to them.
2) I think their profile bio/description was really well written and would love to start a chat.
I don’t mean to be lazy but many a times the messages get ignored |

Now this I understand. I think it's a great way to show an interest and letting someone know you're there should that interest be mutual.
I suppose it just shows that we all have a different interpretation of what the wink is for |

I will generally wink first to say hi I'm interested. if I get a wink back then I follow it up with a message |

Some read into them a massive amount. Overanalysing their meaning. Others, they’re just a harmless and quick way of saying ‘hey, I like what I see’.
Most people bitch and whine about getting those kinds of opening messages, so a wink does it without the words, easy to ignore if it’s not your bag. |

Absolutely this. It’s a wink for goodness sake not an indecent proposal (although we’ve had winks that have happily ended with one!)

I will usually say hello to someone if they wink me and take my eye, I take it as a shy way of making contact. If they don't reply then if is all good.
Fabs I just assume someone was having a perv, I will usually then look at their profile and perv back. |

I don't often use the wink but do if I'm interested in the profile and would be happy to chat. Normally if I get a wink I'll message thanking them and try to start a conversation but never hear any more |

For me I fab pictures if I like but know they don't match what they are looking for.
I wink if I like a profile sometimes I just find it hard to know what to write. I know a lot don't like winks but it should be a very useful tool |

"We use the wink when we like the profile or are interested in a chat or possibly a meet if we like each other on the chat "
This is basically how we see it too.
We use it to show that we like your profile and to test the waters.
If we get a wink back then we'll chat x |

"I just think it’s lazy and don’t take any notice of winks "
Only a woman could say that on here. I wonder if after 50 or 60 well crafted messages to have each one either deleted or ignored ,she would be saying a wink is lazy |

Never understood winks on here, I’ve had a few and presumed it was for me to message them and when I have I get no response, wouldn’t mind but I’m usually only asking for a chat it’s not like I’m pushing for anything in that first message |

I send a wink to say I like them/their profile and hopefully they might wink or message back.
If I receive a wink, I think( or guess) they are doing the same as I.
Messages are more direct, Winks are when I’m not too sure because maybe their profile is far to short and misses everything out that I would need to know if we would get on in text, never mind face to face. It’s more a ‘maybe we might get on’. When a message is, I’m certain we would get on.

I only wink if i fond their profile appealing, without being to forward with an initial message. If they reply with a wink, to me its a sign to start the conversation.
Far simpler than starting a conversation that could be deleted or read and ignored. |
