Double dipping normally means dipping an item of food taking a bite then dipping it again. But now obviously the bit that has been in your mouth now goes into the dip.

This is why it’s frowned upon in polite company.

I was just about to say the same.

Although it can also be when someone dips their food in two separate dips one after the other, thus contaminating say mayonnaise with ketchup, or salad cream with horseradish.......
