The Attic allows a reasonable number of single men on Saturday nights

The reviews for the Attic lately say there's loads of "single" guys in on a Saturday night. The Aston court hotel is decent, just down the road and a £3.50 taxi fare.

I'm not having a go at married men here but a likely explanation is that it's far more difficult to explain a night out to a partner at the weekend than in the week.

A night out with the Lads? (As long as they don't smell of perfume when they get in!)

That usually involves getting at least one "lad" to back up your story if it's a Saturday night.

They have a life outside of the club scene and/or to places like Amigos and the Attic that had no single guy stipulations on a Saturday night.

We stay in and sob into our curries, waiting for MOTD as a brief distraction from our humdrum existence.

Plus we are hungover from Friday nights!

Would that really be the case?

I'm much more likely to go out for a drink with mates, go to a gig, etc, at the weekend than mid-week.

Mid-week would have seemed really odd to my ex.

I know a lot of couples say they want couples only nights as that is what swinging was originally about... but then it's odd that they also want single women, so that can't 'really' be the case. It's really that they just don't want extra men. Which is fine.

What would be nice is if they altered the dates around a bit, because not everyone is free on Fridays / Saturdays to get to the nights that best cater for them.

I think Xtasia has been trying to tackle that by allowing everyone into the venue, but having either the main club or bar couples only.

The trouble I see with the volume of club having couples and single ladies nights on a Saturday is it makes it difficult for single parents as Saturday is often a prime opportunity for kids to be away. Now some would say only for single dads, but I disagree. A lot of single ladies on the scene are only after single guys, not to be a spare wheel to another couple or be expected to play with the female half or group fun with established couples. So I agree it is a shame the volume of clubs having couples night on a Saturday.

I don't know. Just from my personal perspective Saturday nights out would set me wondering far more than a Thursday say. I've always thought bank holidays, valentine's Day, weekends, feast days are times a man in a relationship would probably find it more difficult to get away whether his partner was aware or not.

Can't speak for other men but some of us are just not into clubs bit of a rip off if your a single guy (some clubs in my opinion). Would rather meet mates, go work earn some ££, meet fuckbuddy, do our hobbies or just chill at home with netflix & takeaway

Hope you meet some good 1s on your nightout

I was in a club Saturday night. I can’t do mid weeks as in London clubs close stupidly late and I have a 9-5 job.

I don’t mind a mixture of Friday or Saturday nights.
