A common saying when looking for a partner is opposites attract ….
Do they ?
Would you say you was the opposite to your partner ?
Or are you like two peas in a pod
I’m looking for a sidekick …. The robin to my Batman , the Paul to my Barry chuckle
The Jerry to my Tom ….
Am I doing it wrong should I be looking something completely the opposite ?
What’s your view …? |

Me and the Mr are total opposites and it works well, hobbies, interests, we don't share much in common at all, but still we make a great team and I wouldn't change it.

I think every couples dynamics are different, it depends on what’s important to you as individuals and a couple! We are very similar on most things but we have our differences too and we just work |

Certain traits of our personalities are opposites, but then other traits we are totally together. The main thing that we feel is one of the most important is we have the same sense of humour. Our humour has got us through so much and kept us sane, well almost. |

A mix of both.
You need to have some common interests but also have your own passions. Things you may want to share or use as personal time.
I love seeing theme weddings in which you can see the bride and groom have a common interest. Recently saw a mod / scooter wedding and they looked great together.
So have something that cements a relationship, but also individual bricks that builds it further up.

Opposite does not attract in the sense of what I think you are looking for rather opposite contrast. Contrast is used to enhance the illusion of whatever you are comparing that shares similarities. So contrast guide the viewer's eyes. Similarity is what attracts i.e. culture, food, music, mannerism, etc. That is not to say opposite can't attract I just think similarity attracts like-minded more. |
