If you can't even fooking spell it?
When someone writes " I'm a proffesional" or "Profeshinal guy" its an instant 'I'm out' from us Not sure why as neither of us have a degree in English!

I think lots of people use the term professional to mean that they have a regular job that pays a salary, this doesn't mean they can't spell though lol. Mind you since predictive text and iPhone my spelling and grammar have never been worse. |

"Maybe they are dyslexic or have a problem with literacy, does that make someone a bad person ?"
No it doesn't ... What you probably find is that the spelling mistakes are due to typing with one handed whilst furiously masturbating with the other |

Going cross eyed at end doesn't help either! |

I'm a "professional" but don't have it on my profile. I'm also smoking hot but don't have "very good-looking" on there either as not everyone will agree with my talking mirror.
There are people that post derogatory comments about others on their profile then add "we are an easy going, fun couple..."
My point is how people choose to describe themselves, no matter how ludicrous, is down to them is it not? |

I would always have said that a professional is someone who has a career rather than just a regular job. I consider myself to be a professional, and I am also Dyslexic. So sometimes I will make spelling mistakes.... |

Nothing wrong with it either way |

I actually have a comment regarding this on my profile. I do not care whether someone is a professional or not - I do care if they lie about it. As for dyslexia - it is no excuse for very poor English grammar. Spelling is a whole other issue. I have been messaged and have met people with dyslexia but they were, at least, articulate. The inarticulate messages get deleted. If you cannot string a basic sentence together in your Mother tongue then we probably will not get along. |

Isn't it a bit pedantic to deride someone for their spelling mistakes?
I thought this was a site for socialising and having fun. Maybe they are dyslexic, or just not very good spellers, but either way, does that make them untouchables? |

I agree with DB9 queen about the difference between the standard of english and grammer. For us the biggest turn off is when we see messages written in text speak, to us it just makes people sound badly educated.

"I saw one today who is a "proffescionel"
Spelling mistakes etc don't really bother me... but a "professional" calling themselves a "proffescionel" is kinda like someone saying they're a "dokter"
Maybe he was german! "
Or possibly a pizza!!!!!!!!!! |

Not in a word, no. Having said that, in some respects you have to 'sell' yourself on here so that people are interested, so to us its simply about showing you take the time and effort to write your profile and messages properly. |

I agree - and that was certainly not what I was doing. The reverse, in fact. I hate it on forums when someone takes apart someone else's spelling. We all make mistakes and some people simply cannot spell. But to not be able to string together a decent message or clarity and comprehension is what puts me off. If that makes me seem like I am a fussy bitch or a snob - I just do not give a feck! |

I agree with there being a difference between being dyslexic and using text speak. The former is very often part of a very intelligent brain that simply functions differently... the latter is a complete turn off (for me anyway) |

And yet, we see all the posts on forum regarding msgs deleted with no reply. If someone is dyslexic for example, and takes 15mins to compose a decent msg only to find that msg deleted straight away, wouldn't you find that off putting and just say feck it? |

"There but for grace of God go anyone one of us !
Must be great perfect in everyway !
"
And what of those text speak messages which you get and are utterly indecipherable? No one here is looking for perfection. They are looking for well-considered messages. If someone cannot take time over a message what would they be like in the bedroom? OK so that might not be a perfect analogy but that is the way people think. |

Not really - no, but thats just me. Speaking as someone who is Dyslexic, it is something I manage every day and find ways to work around it.

I'm verry happy you have managed to control it, whereas a lot of people with dyslexia haven't been able to do so and live with the frustration daily! |

and the ultimate question is ...
why do people moan about the influx of non-english speakers into this country and how much difficulty those people have communicating - yet many of those moaners cannot even use their own language correctly |

"And if they have spelling difficulties ? Sight problems? Dyslexier ?
What then ? Shoot them ? "
Thats not the point at all, the point is taking the time to write a decent well worded message. As I said, I suffer from Dyslexia (please note the spelling! ) and when I am writing messages I still take the time. I totally understand the issues that surround it and recognise them.
we would rather recieve a message with spelling mistakes where some effort has gone into it rather than a message written in text speak |

And people through no fault of their own who have had little or no education ?
Or have a more severe form of dyselexior than yourself ?
Life sometimes isn't as simple as it appears !

Education is free to the age of 16 in this country - last I heard. I appreciate that it is not a level playing field but some of the messages sent to me could have been better written by the average 10 year old. |

My education was far from perfect, so I know exactly what that is like. Also having spent a lot of time with other people with Dyslexia (not to mention a host of other difficulties) I apprechiate the issues. As I have already said, its about making the effort to write a decent message and in my opinion text speak isn't making the effort.
At no point have I said that life is simple, far from it!

Happy chatting folks but don't dare make a mistake !"
You have utterly failed to read the thread. Sorry you were so offended but no one was actually making a personal attack on you. |

"I agree, I think the point was missed there."
Of course the point has been missed! The original op was talking about spelling mistakes, (which is what i'm commenting on), NOT text speak!
Text speak is a totally different subject to what the op posted on. |

I'm not offended because I didn't post the headline, I'm just saying for whatever reason, we all have different issues in life and sometimes things can't be helped, I also agree that some people don't help themselves , I was just playing devils advocate that's all. |

Fair enough. But the original posting was really referring to people presenting themselves as 'professionals' who really are not. It was not really about spelling! The thread simply morphed into that - as threads do - which is the way discussions go very often. |

I have dyslexia and bad spelling is no excuse. Best trick if i don't know the spelling is open google and 9/10 times they spell it right. Plus it takes less than 10 seconds. |

I didn't say you weren't making an effort! I was pointing out that its easy to make a mistake. |
