Because Jane has a massive migrane brought on by an afternoon Chinese (mean not man lol)

Luckily we hadnt managed to make arrangements for tonight or we would have had to genuinely cancel at quite short notice as the migrane came on full pelt within 15 minutes!

How do you deal with migranes? J has to make hersell ill after a couple of hours then she slowly gets better over 2 or 3 hours. Any tips or cures?

Dark room, head sunk into squishy feather pillow under the duvet, total silence needed x

Hope she better soon, does she get the urge to vomit too?, that's the worst!

Eat mars bars when you feel it coming on. It could be due to sugar levels dropping

Would just like to clarify this was not caused by me

In all seriousness I hope Jane gets better soon. Drink plenty of water, keep the room dark and lie down with an ice-pack on your head. Medicine like aspirin and ibuprofen may help too.

I would recommend Diclofenac sustained release tablets..works for 12 hrs

If you can't get the above then go for Nurofen migraine Pain tablets. If the pain threshold is more you can take 2 tablets at a time. It will surely help.

In case you are worried about the suggestion then don't be so..I have a masters degree in Pharmaceutical sciences.

Get well soon...

I go straight to bed if possible, curtains closed, eye mask on to block all light.

Usually have the window open a little as being cool helps and take painkillers with lots of water. I hate migraines it's just so draining. (miss)

Migraines can be due to sugar levels dropping but also chocolate is the worst thing to eat if u hav one get ur sugar kick elsewhere like an extra sweetened cup of tea for example. Also I use migraleve u can but it over the counter cheap n then as others hav said a dark room n a bit of a nap to sleep it off!

Well I hope J gets better soon.

I (Donna) suffers with migraines the best thing I found is to have Magraleve pink and yellow tables and a dark room. Take the pink ones to stop the vomiting and then 4 hours later take the yellow ones to help the pain that is still there if you have got any.

third star on the right

There is a botox injection, which someone recommended to me, that is supposed to pretty much stop them. Thought about it and researched it but not tried it myself. There has been talk of it being made available on the NHS but not got there yet.

I get sumatriptan injections from the GP but a dark room and painkillers

The Wild Wetness

Not read the full forum thread, but you have to be careful with painkillers.

Research is still ongoing, but painkillers used often for ongoing conditions has recently been linked to side effects, including even more head aches.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-19622016

extracts include

"Medication overuse headaches" feel the same as other common headaches or migraines.

Exactly how painkillers have this effect on the brain is unknown.

Most of the people affected are thought to have started with either everyday, tension-type headaches or migraines. The headaches then became worse as they treated themselves at home.

Migraleve pink and yellow tablets work best for me. Also find Migard work well too, although they're prescription only unlike Migraleve.

Whichever medicines I take, however, I have to get some sleep in a darkened room without a duvet, and having some water to drink.

Eating chocolate and cheese makes my migraines worse.
