Do you trust the pill
Jump to: Newest in thread
I was on the same combination pill from the age of 17 till late 40's with no issues at all and no pregnancies, they won't give me it now due to age and higher risk of clots, I have tried all the Progesterone only pills and what a bloody nightmare...bleeding every day and PMT all the time...not good, and they also come with a risk of clots, I would just like to be back on my old pill and sign a disclaimer form that I understand the risks at my age. I know women haven't different experiences on what ever pill they take, all pills are affected by antibiotics, sickness and bad tums so caution always needed. Apparently the Estrogen in the pill as it is synthetic is the issue where as the Estrogen in hrt is more nearer the real thing we produce!! Maybe they should look at making a contraceptive pill that is like the hrt Estrogen. |

"I don't care. I'm never gonna get anyone pregnant. The annoying thing is that having had the snip (while I was still married) I still have to worry about safe sex for other reasons."
Should always use protection with others. Hiv still exists. |

Only just though , around 800 new cases a year in the U.K , so very low chance of catching it , the available drugs have worked wonders to slow the spread . |

Any method of contraception which relies on human use/input obviously is only as good as the person using it.
For the pill.... some types have to be taken within a certain window of time. Some may be affected by other drugs/medication.
When I was younger I was a shockingly poor pill taker. I did the 1/2 Miss a few - take 3 and hope for the best method. It's surprising I didn't get caught to be honest.
Nowadays I prefer a long acting reversible contraceptive, these include the implant and IUD and IUS. I'm on the IUS and so it is 'over 99%' effective. That means 1:1000 may get pregnant.
Obviously- they're only for contraception and STIs need to be considered |

I have reasonable faith in the pill as a method of birth control when used correctly, and under the right conditions and acceptingits limitations. But that's not to say I trust it blindly and completely.
Do I trust women... ? That just feels a bit demeaning to say
I like to give people the benifit or the doubt where possible.
However when it comes to your health and reproductive rights the stakes are high enough to warrant a far more cautious approach, and a higher standard of evidence, than for mundane matters!
Trust like this must be earned and then never taken for granted |

No. I don’t trust any form of contraception.
First fell on the depo and miscarried
Fell on the depo again (was assured it wouldn’t happen again, foolishly I believed it)
Fell again when a condom broke and took the morning after pill.
Fell again while on the pill and also took the morning after pill (had another miscarriage)
I stuck to everything. Was careful to check any medications that may affect the different contraceptions methods. Took the pill like clockwork every day the same time and so on.
Now I use condoms and monitor my fertility window and avoid this time all together.

I do but having had it fail there are many other factors that can affect how effective it is.
For my wife it was antibiotics and I think another medication and we just wasn’t thinking at the time
So the pill yes 100% - always the human desire and humanity that’s the risk |

The only problem with Depo for most younger women is it can take a year to conceive if they want to try for a baby which isnt really ideal for those typically around late 20s early 30s id assume becauwe of the long recovery times to conceive. (unless your 100% not trying for a baby) |
