Can any women or couples that have experienced it tell me if things get better. Wife’s on HRT patches, lost almost all interest in sex and isn’t bothered if she never has to again. Does it or will it get any better over time ?

I guess every woman is different so will be affected differently by the menopause. My wife had a hysterectomy and went onto HRT. Sex wise it didn't make a lot of difference, she's never really been into sex. However, she was pretty much hell to live with for a few years but I know this wasn't much fun for her either. Not long after starting on the HRT her mood has changed and I can once again see the woman I married coming back. We're not there yet but we'll get there. I guess you just need to support her through it and not force the sex side of things. Let her decide when ( and if) she's ready to enjoy that side of life again.

Started HRT recently, have not lost my sex drive. We are all different, for me it was loss of memory and insomnia

Can you talk openly with each other? That's the only way things like this resolve. I know it's difficult and not everyone can because one or both is unwilling.

I don't know if things will change for you but at least you would know where you stand.

Not really. She gets very defensive about it. It’s like she’s pretending it’s not happening

Do you think she could be feeling upset that she's obviously disappointing you? Unable to have sex with you in the way you want she might feel she's letting you down and afraid of the consequences of talking about it.

I’ve never made her think that.

I didn't say you had. It doesn't mean she doesn't feel it.

"I’ve never made her think that. "

It probably makes her more insecure that you are on here getting it elsewhere

I think coming on here and speaking to others would be quite hurtful to her if she isn’t aware. And what ever you’re feeling about the lack of sex really will pale in comparison to what she’s experiencing right now. I hope my husband is supportive when I get to that point.

Ive been going through the menopause since i was 46, im not on HRT , but omfg , my sex drive has gone through the roof . But it can affect women in so many different ways , and some of the side affects can be atrocious i can vouch for that . Just be patient x

My wife was quite distraught that she was losing her sex drive, and memory, and here mind and going a bit crazy. Took a while and different products. But with the GP she found what works for her. She feels more normal now. It took time. Getting to see a sympathetic GP in the first step.
