No I find them lazy. I'd rather someone just send a message. Winks have never lead to anything, messages have.

Honestly, I find it a complete waste of time.

The amount of winks I've had that I've replied to (in a reasonable and respectful manner, with a face pic, nice chatty message to get things going etc...) only to get no response ..nadda (not even a hey I kind of got that wrong) is unbelievable haha

Had one today.

New year resolution ... don't message those that wink.

A further school of thought might be, why wink, - I'm a man on fab, we don't get loads of messages. If you're interested, hey, make my day and send one.

I winked at someone, and he was my first ever meet, we still see each other over two years on…

Having said that, I rarely look at them now

We like to use a wink to show our initial interest and if we get one back then we'll message xx

I get that some people feel shy and awkward about messaging first so maybe a wink is their ideal first communication to show interest...

however...

so many times we've had winks sent to us so we follow them up with a well written message and we just get ignored

If we get a wink we would usually send one back if an attraction is there, whether that be pics or bio, and with a short thank you message hoping it opens up a bit of dialogue and go from there.

I think the wink system is abused which is why it is ignored by most.

If it was real life in a bar you might wink and if they wink back you'd know there's at least a hope of some conversationb if you speak.

On here as a single guy, you can read a profile, word a decent message and it just never gets read as it's falls below all the "wanna fuck" messages.

I'd rather get a wink and then a decent message than a "wanna fuck in my car now".

Usual case on here, ruined by the masses of disrespectful keyboard warriors who never intend to meet.

We see them as an icebreaker and an expression of interest.

Over the years it’s led to some good friendships on here and a meet or two.

Always happy to receive them.

Don’t mind a wink off couples we take a look and if there it mutual interest we wink back and usually leads to messages.

It’s the perfect way for someone that doesn’t remotely fit your preferences and lives 200 miles away to get themselves noticed by you apparently.

But honestly, we don’t mind. It’s a bit like first eye contact at a club.

We always check winks.

If we’re compatible we’ll wink back.

Some of our greatest meets and good friends have started with a wink.

I think they're a great idea. A low-intensity way of establishing potential mutual interest.

Unfortunately, most women and couples get so many they never even look at them, so they're not actually useful in practice. Oh well!

I've had some that have led to some great meets . It's the same with people who message you first and when you respond with a well thought out message they don't respond back. I find them use as it gives me a chance to view their profile and see if I would like to meet them or not.

We have always used the wink option on here with mixed results. Made friends with some great couples over the years by winking or returning a wink.

Never had much luck, well ti be exact no results when we have winked a single female. But after reading the replies on here we now know why. Note to self, no wink ladies.
