I've been surprised in the past by just how roughly some women like their nipples being treated. Really pulling and twisting them.

It's all about the size of the nipple and Aureola.... there are the same amount of nerve endings in all nipples. The smaller the aureola and nipple, the more concentrated they are......
So as a rule of thumb small aureola and nipple = means easily overstimulated.... So gentle kisses, soft sucking, light swirling licks etc...
Large Nipples and Aureolas = needs more intense stimulation is usually required and desired....

I for one don't like my nipples being pulled but I had a gf who absolutely loved it. Some people have a different tolerance to pain in certain parts of their body and that might be a part of your wife's body that can stand what you think of as painful and sore.
