If you have only tried with fingers I would say try some smaller sized toys first and build up to bigger ones.

Personally, I think doggy is a not a relaxed position. I remember it was what we did for my first time and it went horribly wrong.

I’d agree with this. Lots of lube and go really slowly to begin with. Don’t be afraid to pause and wait for things to ease if the muscles start to tense, if you trust your partner and you’re slow and patient, that will pass and the muscles will start to relax |
