2 questions for debate:

1. Is there any meaningful point to this function?

2. Does a wink indicate laziness on the part of the winker?

No I wink to show interest to couples mainly

If I get a wink back then it’s like a green light to drop a message

Cheeses me off when you do message & they deny the said winkage

Why not simply message in the first place?

It’s all confusing with what’s the right protocol on here.

Look, you want to talk, send a message. If you get a reply, they want to talk.

Or what for them to message, but to paraphrase a quote - You won’t get a reply from 100% of the winks/messages you don’t send.

Anyway, why is the feature there? Why does the website have it if not to use it?

I've had good meets off the back of winks, so they work for me.

I think everyone has there own interpretation of the wink

I always check and read a profile first, as some people don’t check winks which is fair enough, but usually they will state on there profile if they respond to winks or not,

For me, i use winks as a way to gauge any interest, if they wink back I will proceed to message,

I don’t see winks as being lazy,

But once again everyone views them differently and have there own opinion on them

Better to be looking at it then looking for it. Sending long messages for no reply soon get very boring .send a wink and a wink back generated interest.

I agree with _azyliving, a wink is a green light to send a message in reply.

I prefer a wink rather than a message. A two way winking interaction is the go ahead to message, it's not lazy just confirms interest on both sides.

Yes there is a point to it and no I don't see it as lazy. I use winks very often to just show an initial interest

OK, but out of interest, why not just send a message.

What’s holding you back on that front?

Didn't even realise anyone had "winked" on me. Only found that section yesterday.

A message would achieve the same, but a wink is less effort for both parties?

Well the fact I'd be sending out countless messages which can be very time consuming is what stops me. But they work 8/10 so no reason to not use the wink feature

Well if you message and say their inbox is swamped then you may not be seen. Same could said if winks but though to be fair ha

This is true.

It’s a case of each to their own, I guess.

I see lots of profile that say, “winks are deleted or ignored”. Hence the thread.

Yes I've also noticed that. I like both depending on what I'm looking for and how soon. If I'm looking for a meet, then I'll say winks are ignored

We love a wink!!!!

So much better than a single guys long tales about how they are different etc zzzzzz

Actually think it’s a turn on, they view your profile /pics like the look so send a wink! If we feel the same will send one back and take if from there!! Classic bit of flirting!!

Xxxx

we take winks to mean that somebody likes the profile

we send them when we see profiles we like

kind of an ice breaker to start chatting?
