I'm not going to get into an argument about this because I wasn't picking on the op, just pointing out that schools these days don't consider the Queen's English to be anywhere near as important as it was 30yrs ago when I was at school, which just seems a total waste. |

To answer the op...
Many women get overwhelmed by messages from people who don't match their criteria so they set up their filters and go looking for themselves.
The only way you can message them I'd if they contact you first. So if they have looked but not messaged then, unfortunately, you don't suit what they're looking for.
As for the shower who gave you grief for poor spelling ignore them they're being mean.
Give the forums a chance, we're not all that judgemental. |

No, I never have and never will work in the education system. My comments are based on having been taught that spelling, grammar and basic maths are paramount, then seeing the abysmal efforts of my own two children and raising the issue with their teachers at EVERY Parents' Evening for the past 18yrs, only to be told that same line by each and every teacher I speak to.
My younger son has just started college and as much as his written English has improved considerably over the past year or two (no thanks to the education system, all extremely hard work on his/my parts), the colleges are actually finding that THEY are having to teach Level 1 functional skills in Maths & English to their students.
Despite my son achieving Level 2 at school and GCSE grade B in both Maths & English, he is still having to sit through the lessons for Level 1, just because he is one of only 3 people in the 6 groups of students (total of approx 120 people) studying his course this year who is already beyond this level.
So as you will see, my comments were definitely NOT based on talking to a tiny number of people unqualified to genuinely know about how the system works or indeed the tabloids (I think the last time I read a newspaper was sometime around 1990!). |

I will say this again, I was NOT dissing the OP's grammar or spelling, just commenting on another poster's comment about going back to school to learn how to spell. It's the education system that I have been running down and NOT the OP. |

I think a lot of the rants on here about peoples poor spelling and grammar are by middle-class people who believe that because mummy and papa sent them to a good school, then that makes them a cut above everyone else.In my _iew the reason the schools are so bad is because those same middle-class people insist on voting in retard tory twats who then insist on cuts to the education system, grow up stop looking down on others and leave the poor guy alone |

I think that somebody should develop an app, where it converts text speak into 'proper' English on mobiles! Stop the kids using text speak all the time. The amount of job applications that I must throw straight in the bin because of text speak is ridiculous.
Although poor spelling and grammar annoys the hell out of me, I can understand that everybody is different and that we all have different intelligence levels so would not criticise on this, unless in a letter/CV etc. The computer will fix it all for you!
It's just the text speak that needs to go. Some may see it as our language evolving, I see it as plain laziness. |

I have taught children in parts of Asia and South America who have a far higher standard of English than many people in this country. English people who cannot spell simple words in their own language have no excuse, no matter how dim witted they are. They have all been to school for at least eleven years. The children I have taught are not native English speakers and do not have the luxury of eleven years free school education.
It is no wonder that so many jobs are given to immigrants in preference to English people. |

I do not believe that the reason jobs are given to immigrants in preference to English people has anything to do with grammar and spelling.Considering you were teaching in asia and south america then at that time you yourself were an immigrant to those countries, but i digress. What in your opinion is the excuse then? Why are british children leaving school unable to spell simple words? And before you answer that please remember that we are talking about a minority of people here. |

Learning difficulties or not, the computer will correct for you. And if you have learning difficulties from birth, you were not taught text speak in your early years.
I have a cousin who has MS by the way. He can spell perfectly well. |

Perhaps the "wimen" who don't contact the O.P get many messages per week.
Therefore they have certain criteria to end up with a short list of guys they want to message or reply to, one of those criteria may just be spelling/grammar.
A few posters have suggested that it could be down to learning difficulties, we'd say the majority is down to laziness.
We've spoken to people at work who spell poorly on emails, when we ask why they don't use Spellcheck the most common reply is "Can't be arsed!".
We're both technophobes but if we can work out Spellcheck why can't others?
It all comes down to standards, its just as hygiene, respect and manners are expected, then why not decent spelling and grammar when writing profiles or messages?
It seems its just another failing in modern society, once people would be embarrassed by not being able to write a legible sentence, now they're almost proud of it, even with the means to correct it literally at their fingertips.
Oh and by the way, we're far from middle class, in fact we're very proud to be working class but being working class doesn't mean we have to drop our standards.

I do work in education and your son does not HAVE to sit through level one lessons if he has attained a level 2, in fact if they are claiming funding for him they are doing so fraudulently and if they aren't they are teaching him for free. I would suggest his time would be better spent in the learning resource centre reading around the other subjects he's studying. |

There are plenty of women on here.
However, this is not a site where "hot sex" or however you phrased it is avaliable on demand, with no effort and no morals.
On here, as in every other social situation, one has to make and effort and find compatible people.
People have different levels of education, of wealth, attitude, education and experience and age and that will be reflected in whom they are likely to be attracted to on here, just as is true of any other situation.
Just accept this site for what it is, any meet is a privilage and often a rare privilage, but no one is obliged to meet anyone

This is a good and perfectly valid point, but its far from the point that a lot of posters were making.Yes i agree grammar and spelling are important,i hate to read anything that is badly spelt with childish mistakes and if some-one makes a decision based on that, then thats fine. What i was saying is it is more than obvious that the op struggles to spell simple words and in that case then just mocking him is a form of bullying which i don't think is fair to him.Not one person asked him why his english is so bad, and no-one thought to actually answer his question it just seems that people get a kick out of putting someone down because they can't do something most of us can. This guy can probably do lots of things none of us can but would we expect him to mock us?
Reminds me of that old joke
How do you comfort a grammar nazi?
