Can anyone recommend a decent pub, ideally halfway-ish between Swindon and Reading, where I'd be able to chat to a prospective meet?

No idea!!! Not that I'm the font of all knowledge re pubs - just in certain places!!!

Costa coffee in newbury services. Handy for a quick get away. There's also a Hilton motel in case the meeting goes really well
