Sheffield

Was out yesterday evening, needed some things form Tesco so got dressed in my new brown check skirt which I uploaded a pic of when I got home, a blush pink blouse which matches lovely with the check in the skirt, black opaque tights, black ballerina flats and a jacket. The look I wanted was maybe just finished work everyday look and called in to do a bit of shopping. Hair and make up on, handbag and a facemask incase I needed it and into the supermarket I went, browsed the clothes, undies etc, no one bothered. Then I walked out last all the checkouts with people paying etc, past the security guy on the door and back to the car. Loved it, I thought in for a penny …… about 2 mins drive away is a Sainsburys so I did the same there, to get up into the store you have to ride a long gentle escalator , a couple women on the other side leaving the store, I just kept my head up and looked forward not bothering whether anyone was sussing Katie out, again a browse around the clothes section, then thought I know what to celebrate my latest adventure is walk to the wine area and buy a bottle of wine to have when o got home, so walking right through the store as the booze was right in the last aisle, I had to walk past lots of ordinary customers men and women just shopping as well as staff, 2 staff members both women were chatting at the end of one aisle, I know one looked and then looked again as I walked past but hey ho, went and selected a bottle of wine then back through the store to the self checkouts, however as it’s alcohol you need an assistant to come and flash their staff card and put a code in so I motioned to an assistant who was about mid 20’s, quite pretty with a lovely ponytail, she came over obviously knowing I’m a sissy said hi, did the scan thing, I paid and as I walked past her outbthe store she looked and we just smiled, back down the escalator passing other people on the way up. It’s exhilarating but when you forget that you are being a tv and just be a woman out shopping it’s even more exiting when you sit back in the car and think ‘god I’ve just done that, early evening shoppers all seeing me as a woman, carry on regardless and just enjoy my time as katke in the real world

I'm fortunate to live in Hackney and in the last 20 years I have seen a number of TV/TG folk just living life the same as everyone else. A fair few older people too. I have a friend in her 70s who rocks out her leather mini skirts of an evening at my bar and wears the tasteful twin set during the day. Every day you see young androgynous kids being able to express themselves through fashion and make up. Hackney is a place where you can just be yourself.

I think that's most of London bar a few parts, but it's always good to hear other people's experiences, thank you.

It can be a lot easier with the pandemic and wearing a face mask. As it’s covering up almost half of your face, also if you wear glasses I doubt many people would know that you’re a guy.

I’ve been out and about for years but I find London the safest place to go, the advantage of it being a bit unfriendly and people generally ignore you anyway. It is liberating and a great thrill especially the first time out.

My advice, plan in advance of what you’ll do, certainly stop somewhere for a drink as sitting in a cafe or bar is part of the fun.

However if a city is too scary, go for a drive into the country and find somewhere a bit secluded and have a half hour walk.

Whatever you do I hope it goes well

I go out regularly - local shopping, supermarkets etc. I used to be a bit doubtful about leaving my house dressed, during the daytime, but now I dont worry about it.I love going out as a woman and have never had any hassle, but I think it's important to dress "normally" for a female of your age. I always wear a skirt or dress( which not may women do these days, admittedly) but avoid the tarty tranny tat. I dont know if I get read or not - if people scrutinise me they would perhaps realise but I think the public are pretty accepting these days anyway. Most of my recent photos are of me in public places.

Walked from the Hotel to a Torture Garden ball, what a rush! The best most nerve racking experience ever! Bit daunting walking through the hotel reception with people staring but I styled it out, kept my head and heels high and strutted baby!

Nail on the head with how you dress.

I generally wear jeans (so I can wear trainers) with a floaty top or skirt / dress. Nothing too over the top, just something a fashionable young or middle aged woman would wear.

I went to the attic a few years ago, that was my first venture out so to speak, got chatting to a couple of girls there and my nerves were eased immediately.

My step sister is the only one who knows of my alter ego and we chat regularly and I confide in her completely. She has recently convinced me to book a hotel in Manchester for us and she is going to take me out around Canal Street for the night, will be my first proper time out dressed around other people, not just walking to the end of my road and back in the dark, I’m very excited but terrified at the same time lol xx

Managed to get out a few times to do the weekly supermarket shopping. First time I was a bag of nerves, gets easier though.

I have to limit myself to jeggings/jeans, a blouse and jacket though as I can wear them with trainers - cant get any womens shoes big enough so dressing in a skirt etc is out unfortunately.

Torture Garden is a fetish event that takes place monthly in London.

Not strictly a swingers event but a great night out, loads of latex, pvc and fetish wear. Normal clothes you won’t be let in

I walked with a group of T girls from the underground car park in Brighton to the Queens hotel for a Translife event. I was shitting myself at walking dressed up, buy was a lot more relaxed walking back to the car park.

It was over 20 years ago, so that doesn't count.

Hello sisters xx

I have been out many times in the day in the past, and loved my girly shopping trips in Swindon, Leeds, Derby, Leicester, etc. I admit, to begin with, it is probably one of the most nerve wracking things to do, but once you realise that 99.9% of people won’t even notice you, and the few that do, it will be nothing more than a fleeting glance and then the are gone … what they think is upto them. Just hold your head up high and be the lady you want to be xx

I have been in all mainstream shops … when we had loads!!!, I’ve tried clothes on in changing rooms. You will find that staff treat you exactly the same as other ladies, which feels lovely, and that on make up counters they will fall over themselves to help you. Yes I use the ladies loos, and enjoyed a coffee or 2… as others have said, you’re doing nothing illegal

The advice I would give is dress appropriately. … leave the mini skirts fishnets and 6”heels at home, go for low heels (much easier to walk in too) and maybe the business / office look. Watch how women walk and hold their arms, and take shorter steps etc.

I will be honest though, since lockdown, I’ve kinda lost my mojo and confidence, and need to push myself back out there, as not been out …. Yet, but need to and want to.

Love Rachel xx

everywhere!!

I started off going out in public just going for drives in the car, with a little walk somewhere quiet. Then I started going to gay bars occasionally which was great for boosting my confidence. This progressed to going to the supermarket late at night. So nerve wracking, but so exciting too. Again, I got more confident with more trips to other shops and I loved it!!! Makeup shopping in Boots is the best, those girls are so helpful. The key is to keep it simple, light makeup, nice clothes, nothing ott, or _lutty and nobody notices, though I have caught quite a few guys out shopping with their wives having a sneaky look at my bum in jeans, or my legs in a skirt

This is actually a difficult one to answer, everyone is diffrent.

You can go full on drag queen, big smile and loads of jokes, or miss doubtfire and blend in.

Some tv's are naturally feminine and go unnoticed and others are very manly that all the make up in the world won't help.

If you don't care about others comments or looks then go for it but if you want to go out and blend in its so important to dress appropriately and dress to match your age (,Barbie top not good when your 80).

Also it's about the way you act, small steps, head high and don't sit with your legs apart.

I go shopping all fem but my shopping look is masivly diffrent to my clubbing look x

Similar to other comments (which were great to read btw!), have been going out now in public for quite a number of years. Probably like a lot of us, built confidence up over time so from the walk down the street into the dark to now I go to supermarkets, try clothes on in changing rooms and even gone to the cinema as Jessica. Each time gets the heart pounding and I love it!

As others have said, really down play the clothes and don’t wear anything to out there. For me with my fortunate age, I can wear a dress, tights and either heeled boots or flats depending on what goes. I’ve also done leggings and a top and boots for a short hike. What I learnt is that people only ever notice others if it’s something quite ‘out there’ in fashion (or simply very revealing too!). People also only ever pick up on key points before looking to other way hence I wear fake glasses to detract from my male nose and I used to wear subtle lipstick to detract from male chin. Best thing to do is work out your overtly male features and detract from them. Make-up can definitely do a lot of the work but little items like a scarf massively helped my confidence and detracted people away from looking at my neck.

You’ll find it’s mostly in your head and actually when you go out, people are wayyyy too busy with their own agenda to bother about who’s around with them.

Happy to answer any questions and I’d love to meet up with some fellow girls for a shopping trip etc. if anyone local to me?

Think my next step is a meal/drinks/clubbing x
