N Irish here, but after 20 years in England it’s massively slower (twang is still there!), until there’s a few drinks in me, then no one can understand me can!

It depends where in the north. Lincolnshire has nice neutral accents, not too posh and not too 'industrial' (Looking at you Derby!). :D
