Funny enough I just asked about this, 
as long as your happy with your profile and opening messages, the best advice I can give that others recommended to me is:
Try and get involved in the forum,
Try the chat rooms,
Take a look into visiting any local clubs or spa's,
And keep an eye open for any local socials/events.
