You should have seen the absolute piles of shite (trash and literal human shite) they’ve just left all over our beautiful park area! Ragging about on quad bikes at all hours outside our houses and being aggressive to women who live here, swearing at them outside their own houses! Disgusting! Took our neighbourhood hours to clean up after them! |

Pretty much the same down here.

There you go ROMANY GYPSIES and Irish travellers are two different groups, yet they are both being tarred with the same brush. I know the difference also the elders of the Irish travellers will sort out the youngsters when asked to do so. |

Oh my god is the extreme side of the we can’t say anything in fear of offending! If someone said something like red haired people will have to stay indoors in this hot weather! Would accusations of racism and bigotry be levelled at that ffs |

It was more to do with tarring a whole race with the same brush because of dealings with a small group...Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned the hair comment as that is what everyone seems to be stuck on! |

I never said they're all bad, I know they aren't, in fact I had a regular group at my work, good as gold.

If someone does a thread on black men or muslims you never see the same, people in their communities give them a bad name but you do not blame the whole lot. Not sure why this is acceptable with gypsies.
I will say the Romanichal, English Romany gypsies that have been here since the 1500s, are not as responsible for mess and crime as some of the Irish Travellers but that is not to say all are bad as they are not at all. I see more trouble from the East European gypsies that are now here.
Anyway distracting from my thread. Any attractive gypsy/ traveller men welcome to private me |

Proper gypsies are very clean and tidy..travellers are a different altogether my friend married into a family of travellers and her old man beat the crap out of her ..there were a family of gypsies at the beach spoke there own language very friendly thou and put all there rubbish in the bin ,not like most holiday makes who leave crap all over the beach .. |

Maybe I worded it wrong, they are an ethnic group, although they are protected against discrimination by the Race Relations Act and feel human rights act.

saying that a group are arseholes or whatever due to personal experience as has been shown by other posters is not discrimination. Having been in the company of some very fine people from this race as you liked to class them as earlier at places like Appleby for the harness racing and even heard them saying the same due to the antics and actions of some. Not really sure what a gypsy is but have always been attracted to the fairground type guys who used to spin me in the waltzer etc, often tattooed and always hot sex..Didn't always end well but always got a buzz from the risk/ danger so yes I find some of them attractive..
Ps I have no desire to be spun on the waltzer etc |

You are totally right.
There are good and bad groups in most communities so not everyone is the same.
Though the problem we have in the South West, ie Devon and Cornwall is most of experiences with Traveller's isn't very positive because of their behaviour. I've witnessed it in several areas down this way and it can only be described as disgusting and disgraceful. It's a shame because the culture is such a unique and interesting thing that is sadly tarnished by their behaviour. |

I fo remember my half-Romany Nan criticising the Irish Travellers, there may be a difference it seems. But the English Romany have been here 500 years and integrated more over centuries, maybe the Irish Travellers are not as integrated yet. Both groups are treated with disdain and confused for sure though |

I've never had a good experience with a traveller. Some tried to mug me for my bike. The mess the leave in the park is horrendous. They used to cause me grief in my old job. They did an old lady's driveway without permission on my road. They talk all the way through Christmas mass. Took over and ruined a decent pub, starting fights with locals.
Don't want to tar a whole community but not had one positive experience. Open to someone changing my mind though. |

To be fair Asians get quite a lot of stick on here due to the behaviour of some but I think people probably word their complaints a bit more carefully. |

Agree, we take people how we find them to us and don't judge a single person to a whole ethnic community.
We personally have a couple of great gypsy friends as there is quite a large population in our part of the country. We have never discussed our lifestyle with them as we keep it private from everyday life and wouldn't want to be judged.
Personally we can imagine that there are definitely single gypsy guys on here but probably unlikely that there are genuine married MF gypsy couples here due to how the girls are raised but who knows we could be wrong....

Lived in two villages and both had travellers destroy village greens, churning it up, leaving huge amount of rubbish, big bonfires, hassling people who live by, literally shitting in a ditch not to mention fields suddenly being turned into caravan parks with no planning permission and secret tarmacking to make roads over bank holiday weekends, treating footpath by side of caravan park as a private rubbish bin, etc, Those fuckers were not misunderstood. They have no respect for anybody else. I get that as a group you might be misunderstood and I have no idea the proportion of good vs bad. We are generally tolerant and open minded towards all groups but travellers are their own worst friends. |

Broke into then parked on the school field before sports day. Then deliberately vandalised it, left needles, broken glass, emptied loos over it so they couldnt use it.... Not too much to misunderstand. |
