See Who's near?

Alicante, Spain. (Sometimes in Wales)

I'm doing some casual research. (I might ask Sidney Uni if they'd like to fund me.)

Who uses the "See who's near" function on their mobile?

I'm interested to see if there's a gender or couple to single ratio going on.

Also, a supplementary question, If you use the function, what have you ever got out of it?

We often do, just to be nosy.

We tend to not actually chat or play with people that are within 15 miles of us.

I like to see who's near just to be nosy, but I wouldn't play close to home.

You can't really trust it though, so easy to fake the position on a laptop+firefox so I'd question the data tbh.

I use it quite often, just to have a nosey to see who’s around, often wonder who else may be close by and looking at me lol

Sadly it’s mostly a sausage-fest out in my local area. But it’s only a reflection of the typical ratios on fab in general.

Due to the imminent demise of Dogging.co.uk I have been using Fab more often. As I'm currently on the Isle of Wight for a break, I've been using who's near to see if there's anyone near I'd like to interact with.

Two couples.

8 men.

1 woman.

Two main types of use.

1. Curiosity.

2. Avoidance!

Can anyone from Sydney Uni let me know if that's of any use and if so, how do I apply for a grant for further research?

Yeah we use it have only met one guy from home town though he lives 5 minutes walk we often bump into him he is very experienced and discreet though but we have recognised quite a few one in our street a couple from the school but have never let on we know them we have been recognised as well

I check it every now and again. Have had a chat with a few people nearby but nothing's ever come out of it. Some are less than a quarter of a mile away too!
