I don't race but regularly visit the usual midlands haunts. Cannock is becoming a pain as it is becoming more popular, also I wonder about how the popularity after the games will impact the runs there.

So not getting my new enduro bike till the new year, but a not insignificant tax rebate has me eyeing up an aggressive hardtail build

Has to be the steel stanton all day long.

More compliant and forgiving, especially on long full day rides.

Steel is real!

I didn't know you were a fellow biker, Cherry

Totally agree. My race bike was alu and it kicked my arse - only good for racing. I love my steel frame for joyful riding.

I used to mtb too! Was more of a cross-country rider as the hills used to kill me.. Mainly on the road now - i have a penchant for cycling next to water

She wasn't before we got together but loving it now.

I had a zaskar back in the late 90's and that was brutal.

Steel all the way now for a hardtail.

Road bikes just don't appeal to me sadly. Especially around Northampton, there's way to many idiots driving, and the adrenaline rush I used to get from downhill was amazing, can't wait to get back into it

I've got a hardtail but found the ride was horrible so went for a full suspension for this one. Maybe I just had a cheap crap ride? I was a voodoo though and was highly recommended by some friends,

Leeds

Not ridden since the first lockdown when I came off at Leeds bike park. Straight over the bars coming off a jump, face planted the hard packed gravel and smashed half my face in, wrecked the helmet I was wearing.

Big eye opener (well actually one eye closed completely for a couple of days due to swelling!)

Anyone want to buy a bike?

Good news is you are ok fella, get a new lid (I use a Met Parachute with removable chin bar), get back on and maybe get a lesson if you think it will help or give you some confidence again.
