My kids know if footballs on the tv then they have to leave me alone. I love my kids, so imagine how I feel about football!!!
I also had the privilege of working pitchside in the greatest sport ever invented. |

"Tedious game. People falling over in agony when lightly touched. Yawn.
Give us Rugby any day, either code. Much better game "
And don’t forget ‘The Magic Sponge’ Rugby is a far better game all round, and the fans for either side can even sit with each other |

Sorry everyone. "
Hey. Don't apologise over loving football. It's the national sport etc. Brings joy and happyness to millions of people round the world. Helped stopped us going mad at the peak of lockdown. Has a lot to offer. Just as Rugby has to. Don't know about cricket though. A bit to slow for my liking |

Not a huge fan and all the political gestures at the start of the game annoy me but I like a decent game. Wales v Switzerland was a corker yesterday.
More of a rugby fan tbh with Saracens less than a km walk from my home. D. |

We both can’t think of many other mainstream things that could possibly be less interesting and less exciting than football. It is utterly shocking to us that so many people get excited about such an empty and repetitive thing like football.
To each their own. Cannot stand football season lol. |

Football is brilliant, it's not just the actual 90 minutes it's the traveling with life long mates home and away into Europe and around the Uk
It's beers before the game with singing and banter, it's the pub afterwards leading to a club and a curry and failed attempts at meeting girls
If you don't get it you don't get it |

But none of that stuff has anything to do with football. You could insert any event into that story, the actual football is irrelevant in that scenario. Could be a concert or hell, even a business meeting for some. The actual game of football is not fun to millions of people. It’s horribly boring. |

Game played by pussies.. like watching paint dry and pkagued with fake injuries and stupid supporters tbh
Rugby anyday please, much more intelligent support, proper mans sport with passion, zero of the hideous religious shite that causes Scotland so much harm, players that instead of faking injuries on the pitch continue to play with blood pissing out them... Plus you can drink at the game, plus all the nations play each other every year pkus Scotland regularly finish top 8 in the world and dont even have to qualify plus we beat England regularly plus its just a far more interesting game to watch with many more techniques and moves than just kicking a ball.. anyway ... My three pennies worth .. lol |

I always think that anyone slagging off someone else's passion just because they don't like it is a kind of sad behaviour.
I don't like x so you shouldn't like it either ?
Life's short and if the last year had shown us anything it should be to be more kind and tolerant of others.
I don't care if someone is passionate about historic toilets, or trains, or stamp collecting etc if they're passionate about it I'd even ask them to tell me about it just so I can here them being enthusiastic.
But hey that's just me and each to their own |

" the fans for either side can even sit with each other "
I used to work in Cardiff after the Rugby Internationals. The level of violence was huge compared to non rugby days. There's also a phenomenon where Domestic Violence goes up after big sporting events as pissed fans eventually get home.
Sad, but true,

I don't like football it bores me but it does mean gyms are emptier especially when England play which I do like.
The only time I have actually hated football was when a guy caught sight of the time during sex and announced he had to watch the Liverpool game then wondered why I was annoyed and left |

Crikey, you got out the wrong side of bed this morning.
Not liking a particular sport doesn't mean any of those things.
I enjoy lots of sport but the main reason I don't enjoy football is the often bad attitude of players and supporters. Supporters can't even be trusted to be in the same stand without things kicking off.
Your response only reinforces my opinion. |

I personally find football dull and tedious, and think that the "tribal" nature of some fans is bordering on psychotic.
Yes there are some incredible athletes involved in the professional game, but no more than any elite level of sport.
What I dislike the most about the game though is the whole "fake" foul thing. The diving and dramatic falls in response to the smallest of touches, the pleading for free kicks, the harassment of the officials in response to decisions made and the general lack of sportsman-like conduct.
On the other hand though, many people think it's the greatest invention of humanity.

It's not been taken over by billionaires at the vast majority of levels, if you love the game of football but not the billionaire side of it follow a none league or lower league football club.
I still stop and watch pub league football games on the park if I'm out dog walking |

You seem to have missed the point. The game could be any thing. The other stuff isn’t football, it’s the hanging out around it. But people do that regardless of football. Nothing to do with getting it. I know what it’s like to hang out with friends that all have a common interest. I would be everyone here does. Football has nothing to do with that. The actual game of football is a 90 minute game of pushing a ball into a net. Over. And over. And… that’s nothing to do with ancillary stuff that was mentioned. |

Well said. I don't watch or follow football, like many others it does nothing for me.
But there are so many that love it and talk about little else, and to the extent that fans dress up in their team's kit!! You don't find the same passion for most other sports, so let's accept that we can't all like the same thing. If nothing else being gay has taught me that tolerance and acceptance are needed by everyone. |

There is a documentary on maradonna, which is brilliant and in the south American countries they have a totally different mindset where they say football is all about deception..like when you are running with the ball and you feint go 1 way and go the other.
We also have a culture, or used too where it was fair game to kick the living daylights out of a talented player but if you hand ball it,you are a cheat. |

Used to really annoy me that every decent pub was full, noisy and simply ruined by d*unk football fans whenever a big game was on.
I wish I could find one pub that banned sport. I'm sure there would be plenty of people to fill it up. |

Some pretty pathetic comments really. So football is for pussies who fake injury? Tell that to Mrs Skyblue who has had to witness me break my leg three times, tear my cruciate ligament, smash my arm and shoulder requiring a metal plate and 9 screws and pretty much break a nose or rib once season!!
After finally realising this is not good for my health I packed it up and took up triathlon a couple of years ago.
Football gets you through your early years and schoolife, the social is fantastic and supporting your local team is something people won't understand or get unless they have lived it.
Yes, there's loads wrong with football, but irrespective of this, it still remains the world game and the single most passionate following right across the globe.
BTW I love most sports and rate rugby league as one of the most watchable team sports.

Not interested in football at all. I grew up in a house where it meant nothing and I was never any good at it, probably because I never bothered with it.

Definitely boring, uses up way to much brain space on useless information, how much he cost. What position what player plays, what's his number. Who's moving where, who scores the most goals at what year in any given time. Who's the manager, how far up I'n the league are we, are we happy with our sponsor, how much is a season ticket, what's the name of our stadium..

Not every supporter is like that, I'm neither violent nor full of hatred and i don't know any that are.
Seriously?
You have never seen the hundreds of police drafted in to prevent the opposite teams from slashing each other with hidden razer blades because the support red not blue etc or seen the amount of arrests each week for violence ?
Yes, seriously, not ever football fan is like that, I'm not, none of my friends are, non of the people around me in the stadium are (im in the kop).
Theres a minority that behave that way, not all football fans behave that way.
"
No of course not all fans behave this way but it is the cost of the policing for these Neanderthals that is a waste of police time and resources.
I’m glad you are not a football hooligan at the great old age of 60, if all of the fans were like you then it would be better for all. |

"Tedious game. People falling over in agony when lightly touched. Yawn.
Give us Rugby any day, either code. Much better game
And don’t forget ‘The Magic Sponge’ Rugby is a far better game all round, and the fans for either side can even sit with each other "
I heard they did that in the Merseyside derby, the crowd chanted 'Merseyside' at the end of the game.
Can't beat a man's game though. Look at the respect the ref gets in Rugby, he asks you to come to him, the players come running and don't argue with him either. |
