Why do people vanish when reality is there for the taking ?

Now i now it's been a few years since i dabbled in the swinging scene but surely it hasn't changed that much ? enjoying sexual deviants and making/watching their dreams become reality was and still is what i prefer to do before anything else....yet everytime i ythink i have found the one for me.....BOOM they vanish without trace ??
