"With a wink it’s a great way to say hello, but do people just wink back and then wait for a message or message them straight away? X"
Send me a wink and you might find out |

If we send a wink and get winked back ,then we'll send a message
Thats doesnt go for guys though ,in there case we'll ignore the wink because it goes to show they havent read the profile

" So if you wink at a guy and they wink back, you wouldn't send them a message because they haven't read your profile. |

I prefer winks to unsolicited messages and it says so on my profile, I check their profile out (as I do if someone messages). If I would like to chat with them I wink back ... simple really, and much better than messages/essays/complaining about messages etc |

Winks - personally as noone ever sends them i see it as a great way to stand out.
A message can easily get lost.
If someone were to reply back with a wink I would relook over the profile and start a conversation.
I don't think there is a right or wrong way to replying to a wink, if you're not interested, do nothing, if you are, message or wink back |

"I don’t take any notice of them , usually delete "
This, pretty much. Although I do state on my profile they are likely to be ignored (which makes me wonder if they have read my profile if they do Wink). I never send them either, so no hypocrisy |

If they wink first, we wink back, letting them message us. As they started it, the onus is on them to message.
If we wink first, then they should message us as we've already said we're interested. So the onus is on them to message.

99% of winks we get come from guys who clearly haven't read our profile so we just ignore them. |

We would rather have a wink as first contact than a crap message. If we like the look of the winkers profile we'll wink back and then it's up to them to construct a message that will start the ball rolling. If we wink first and get a wink back then we will send the first message. |

I like being winked, and I'm always up for receiving more as it puts a smile on my face.
They usually grab my attention and drives me to take a look at their profile to see if I like it without them needing to write that first awkward message. If I like what I see and read, I'll wink back and / or follow up with a message. |

By taking a look at the profile and winking back or messaging if there is something I like and I think there might be a connection of some kind.
I don't think that winks are necessarily lazy. Only if it's blatantly obvious that the sender hasn't bothered to read the writing and the compatibility chances are zero. |

I'll send a wink to get someone's attention, wouldn't message though unless I got some kind of acknowledgement, ie like a wink back or a fab on one of my pics. With winks received I have a look at the profile. |

I wink to attract someones attention I like and without sending what could be a wasted/deleted message, if they then wink back I send a message. If on the rare occasions I receive a wink I always wink back if I like the profile or at least send a short polite message even if the person is not for me. Manners cost nothing and us men don't get so many winks and messages so it's easy to respond. |

Anytime I’m lucky enough to get a wink I’d always message back to say thanks for the wink to initiate a conversation...
Think maybe lady’s expect it more from the guys.. if I just winked back it maybe perceived as I’m too lazy ... so I message ... it’s nice manners I think... I hate receiving a wink and then nothing.. not even a response to a mail |

If I receive a wink, very rare, I message with a thanks and that breaks the ice
If I wink it shows an interest not laziness and if I get a return wink the case above stands but if I get a message, rare again, then go from there |

Some couples are quite precious about winks. They hate them, won’t have anything to do with them. We feel they’re a ice-breaker and will usually reciprocate at the very least if we’re interested x |

How you respond probably depends on how many you receive. If you get loads they mean nothing but if you hardly ever recieve one, like most of us on here, i assume that a reply with a message or at very least a reciprocated wink is the norm |

"I never look at winks, I find them lazy. "
You appear to be missing the point of winks.
Surely the great thing about winks is that they save women from being bombarded with unnecessary messages (as frequent threads mention).
Hopefully, a returned wink shows interest which could lead to a wanted message rather than an unwanted one.
Far from being lazy, some winks come from considerate men who are thinking about your time.
The problem comes from people who wink profusely and indiscriminately and thus devalue the efficiency of the wink facility.
I'm sure that admin have thought the process through and presumably have not concluded that the wink procedure is unworkable, as we still have it in place.
and, guys, have a word with yourselves and don't wink or message people without a sensible reason.
Fancying someone unrealistic and out of range is not a sensible reason.
For blokes besotted with other guys' cocks, maybe the site needs a 'Wank' button! |

I have only followed up on one wink. The guy had a good profile so I messaged him. The conversation flowed effortlessly so I fucked him
We are still good friends to this day |

I’m so pleased you asked this..... I wonder all the time.... is a wink I’m interested? Or is it a lazy hello.... are you supposed to reply to a wink with a wink back or do you message? What happens when you’ve both winked.... there’s no winks left..... do you then message.....
I think no to winks and let’s just chat haha..... I don’t see there point to be honest xxxc |

I very rarely look at winks.. I may wink back the odd time but never a message.. I know it can be hard to break the ice, and I don't expect a spelling binding message but a simple hello is better than a wink |

I send a wink, if on the profile it doesn't say anything about don't look at them/deleted and such.
I find it a way to gauge interest. If I get one back then ill message. Thou I tend to read profiles 1st before winking. Its rare that I send a wink, let alone a message as I know ladies and couples generally get inundated with them.
Even after I get a return wink and send a message its rare that I get a reply |

It's nice to get a wink or two. I take it the person sending is usually a bit shy and struggling to find what to say. If I like their profile or find them attractive I'll often message back to break the ice. I don't receive loads though. If I did I guess I'd be deleting them also. Difficult subject!! |

If interested we reply with a wink and then wait for a message should one be incoming.
If we are not interested then we just delete said wink and get on with our day. |

I respond with a message if the profile matches. Otherwise, I ignore/delete |

If we liked the profile then wink back , if we have time for chat then we will also message them.
It's nice to get a wink .
Not all winks mean interest, half of them we get is just as an appreciation for pics or whatever . |

Last time I got a wink – three months ago – I sat down and very carefully wrote a thoughtful and personalised message that addressed and responded to everything in their profile.
They're local to me, we're a really good match, and they're really fucking hot, so I put a lot of time and effort into it. Multiple drafts before settling on a final form, multiple proofreads, live rehearsal, the lot. Then I screwed up my courage and hit send.
It went unread for so long that Fab disappeared it. |

If we get a wink and we like the profile we wink back, its then on that person if they msg us. Likewise vice versa if we send the first wink.
Lot of couples wink at us, we wink back but that's then the end of it, maybe they were accidental |

"It would seem from the answers here that it would be useful for people to be able to turn off winks. That way winkers will only wink at those that want winks. "
What a great suggestion |

I have my message filters on most of the time so I only get winks when I turn them off. I would always check out the profile and if I like the look of that and think there’s potential I would wink or message back.
I also use winks as a way of registering interest in someone else’s profile, plus they can then message or wink back even when my filters are on.
Is it just me that thinks that some couples and females expect way too much from a potential sex partner? It’s not an interview for a job, it’s just registering an interest.
Maybe they are the ones that like the other person to do all the work during play too?! |

We send a wink as a "we are interested and like what we see" if they wink back then we message.
We appreciate not everybody looks at them though so sometimes, if we've noticed they haven't viewed our profile we send a polite message instead.

I use a wink as an expression of interest, if I get one back I follow it up with a message, if the follow up message gets deleted without a reply they go on the block list....
Saves wasting time looking for playmates who are not interested.... |
