We send a wink as a "we are interested and like what we see" if they wink back then we message.
We appreciate not everybody looks at them though so sometimes, if we've noticed they haven't viewed our profile we send a polite message instead.

We use them as a relatively unintrusive way of saying "we like you" without adding to the unimaginable amount of messages we expect you to receive in your inbox. |

Personally if I get winked and the feeling is mutual I’ll message back. I know there seems to be a general dislike for winks here but I don’t mind them at all as long as the person sending the wink has something worth looking at on their profile to let me know what they’re about |

Just wish other people took the same approach. We very rarely wink as we prefer messaging however, when someone winks us and we wink back we would expect that profile to then message. All too often, you get nothing back. It's just laziness on the original winkers side.  |

I send winks and if they wink back I'll send a message with a face pic introducing myself.
If someone winks at me and I like their profile I will message them.

The problem I find is that there are so many time wasters on here of late that typing messages can be a full time job and all for nothing. There is definitely a change in the way people respond if at all compared to a few year back. Because of that I send winks and if I get a wink back I will always message. I understand not everyone likes a wink but its saves my thumbs!!! |

I’ve received at least 5 winks now - 2 legit, 1 profile non longer found, 1 man and I’m pretty sure the other was a 78 year old man ex trucker with two teeth from America posing as a porn star called Krystal actually called Allan  |

I have never found winks work, a woman will get a boat load of winks along with hundreds of messages a day, the chance of someone acting on a wink is pretty slim, remember, single guys outnumber women something like 90 to 1 being conservative |

What annoys us is the number of people who wink before reading profiles. We still get these despite both our profile and status clearly saying we don't want them. There's nothing more we can do to get the message across so now we just block them. |

I think a lot of it is laziness. People just see pics and hit the winks button without bothering to read profiles to see if they're in any way compatible. |
