Two phones
Jump to: Newest in thread
It's been my experience, that the majority of guys have two phones. A personal/work phone, and a fun phone.
I've only one, as I've nothing to hide, and a partner is welcome to view it. How about you? |

Just the one for me. I always used to be suspect of guys at work that had two phones - sakes people mainly. The ‘naughty phone’ as they call
It. |

I think it's sad when people have more than one phone!

We'd never give our perssonal number out. We keep a separate phone for fab. |

It's easy and cheap to get a dual sim phone rather than having 2 phones. We would never divulge our personal numbers to avoid hassle. It has nothing to with having something to hide, just taking account of the possibility that someone starts making a pest of themselves. |

Just the one phone and one tablet. There's always the options to mute, hide notifications and block if needs be.
But, I know some people have phones and tablets supplied by work and therefore can't have them for private use. Some even have sites like this and social media blocked. |

"1 personal phone, 1 work phone and 2 work pads.... don’t know if I’m coming or going "
I suppose following on from this I should say that ( as others have already mentioned ) my work devices are issued by the company as a mandatory thing and they are subject to very strict usage controls.
Not a lot I can do about that but it is nice being able to turn the work one off after work hours and not be bothered by incessant emails pinging away |

Only had one work phone for years and years cos didn't trust myself to look after two.
But what with personal email accounts, texts, fab browsing, WhatsApp, random googling, seemed more sensible to keep things separate mainly just in case work can snoop on stuff. (legally they can't but you never know).
I'm more comfortable texting that I've had a crap day at work on a personal phone than a work one |

I have 2 phones, 1 for work set up for security of my work. Their other one is for anything else.
No subdiffuge just business requirements. |

If someone acquires your personal number and decides to be a pain there's all sorts of ways they can do it and blocking their number will make no difference. |

Hmmmm, I have 2 main phones as I need something for Android and iOS to do work stuff on. Helps split fun from normal work life though as not comfortable giving out personal main number.
But apart from that I must have about 50 or 60 lying around after working in mobile for almost 20 years and being left with test and prototype devices.
Once got stopped at an airport going through with about 10 prototype phones on me that sent the scanners bonkers. That was an awkward convo with security as none of them were branded or official! |

"lol not as bad as I thought.
Must admit, I've not turned mine on this year. Won't have missed anything!"
Hopefully it's not a PAYG one - if you don't use it at least once every six months, the SIM gets deactivated...
....back in mid-Dec, I remembered just in time to send a text from my 'play phone' to keep it current - the way things are going, I'll have to do the same come mid-June... |

having been the mistress , lots of men give the work number to the bit on the side , because the partner isnt likely to go through your work phone or question why you are on it so much if you have a demanding boss |

I have only one phone but I keep con's getting one just for fab etc.
My young nephew likes playing games on my phone so I have to make sure there's nothing that he shouldn't see. Also I use the same phone at work, for Facebook pics etc and I have to be very careful about leaving it around unattended. Just on my desk makes me nervous. |

Personal phone
Main job phone
Personal laptop
Main job laptop
Casual job laptop
Personal iPad
Main job iPad
And a few old phones/laptops I use for projects occasionally.
For me being able to turn off the work phone at 4pm is a godsend. No more emails or updates from the team chat until 8am the following day.
Plus my companies security policies mean if I want to access company data on my personal devices then I have to permit them access to all sorts of little bits and bobs in my system. No thanks. You want me to be able to access things on the move? Give me the devices to do that.
But generally speaking - personal and fun both on the same phone. No secrets here. |

Very true. I have to have a works phone as my contact details are available on the works website, but I certainly don't want people phoning me at weekends etc about their neighbours extension etc. The works phone, although it is a smart phone, has had most smart functionality removed, I can only use work approved apps and many websites (even BBC sport etc!) are blocked!!

I have two work phones and a personal one. It’s not being sneaky, it’s just that work security means I can only do work stuff on work phones. |

When we was meeting regularly we had a swing phone as we like to keep both worlds as far away from each other as possible.
One good reason for our other phone was that if one of ours kids wanted to use our normal phone their was no chance of them coming across our messages or pics. |

Not for me I'm afraid. For a start, if you lose the only one you are up the creek.
I have one mainly talk and text phone for most of my social stuff. Currently I use it as a WiFi hotspot with the SIM in an obsolete smartphone. The card would normally have been in a Nokia dumbphone.
Then I have an old blue and white Nokia dumbphone on pay as you go which I tend to carry as a contingency spare and give that number to companies and organisations.
Also keep some important numbers in a spare old Nokia with no SIM in it.
Since lockdown I bought an extra smartphone, again to use for internet access and have a handful of contacts only on that one. I'm not into social media or even whatsapp and had it not been for lockdown would have been more than happy continuing with talk and text keypad phones!
The above are just my UK numbers. I've got 3 Jersey numbers and SIM cards for several other places abroad. All PAYG.
All my contact numbers are backed up onto a password protected USB stick kept in a safe place.
NO, I'm NOT a drug dealer. I just like old simpler technology, diversity, security and contingency spares! Typing this on a Linux laptop tethered to a 3G phone with a generous data allowance.
Apart from voice calls and Jitsi, never sent anything more than text messages on my smartphones, certainly not email. Have always loved SMS text and hope it never gets phased out during my lifetime. |

usually if your work provides a phone they really lock down functionality in it to stop work data being inappropriately accessed , hacked or shared - this would mean people can’t really use it for personal use so makes sense to have 2
likewise my work apps i dont want on my personal phone because i wont want to feel constantly connected to work |

I had a work phone and a personal one and I'm so glad I now only have the personal one.
If I were in a relationship I'd not have an issue with my other half having access to it. But I'd object if I thought he was checking up on me and I'd definitely object if he made a big thing about his privacy and yet expected me to have none. If that makes sense? |

We have our personal phones..then 1 " Fab" phone. It was once nearly embarrassing the daughter nearly saw a photo of mum with a toyboy when she " quickly wanted to google" something. So all the swing things are on the Fab phone. We both look at it together. |

One for normal, one for fabs.
Had to happen when one of the kids found a naughty photo on my normal phone that I had taken in a lay by to send to the other half that I'd forgotten to delete!
On a plus side, kid has never picked up my phone again! |

Here's an example of the potential treachery of smartphones:
You hand your phone to a friend or neighbour to take a picture of you. They take several (to be sure of a good one) and then say "I'll check that worked". Then they hit the Gallery button...Oops...
Bet you didn't save your naughties to another folder! |

2 phones work and personal.
For those with one phone concerned about others seeing things you can usually have separate profiles e.g guest profile so your naughty pics or search history can't be seen but others can still use your phone if needed. |

Personal and work .
Work phone is monitored and they have full access to it if they need to ( why wouldn’t I let them as it’s their phone ) . Personal phone let’s me look at fab or whatever I want . If anyone wants to look at my phone then go ahead . Work and personal should be kept separate. |

I don't think it's anything to do with hiding stuff
Plenty of people male and female have 2 phones one is usually provided by work .
Two female friends of mine have 2 phones one they consider their normal phone and the other their fab phone so they don't have to give out their proper numbers.I find strange on here tho how a woman doing that is considered clever and looking after her safety but a guy doing that is immediately thought to be married or he has something to hide .But then it's the usual fab hypocrisy at work . |
