"I'm not really one to judge but!! Who else on here can be put off by what they see in the background of a picture."
So off putting. I always think that their personal hygiene must be bad if their surroundings are dirty too. |

"Come on, everyone enjoys a nose at what people houses look like. While you won’t want to meet them, their is a odd perverse joy in finding a messy room "
Yep.
Who cares about seeing genitals when we can gloat and feel better about the state of their living/bed/bathroom. |

I can be a messy sod at times but if I'm entertaining or taking a photo I always tidy up. I've gone to visit other people and felt v uncomfortable squeezing past piles of crap to climb the stairs. |

Randomly I’ve actually messaged someone on here and said they had lovely bathroom tiles and asked what colour were they. I now have the same colour and type of tile in my kitchen!x |

bits" all over the carpet always makes me think "get the fucking hoover out?"
Ash trays full of crap
Tins of special brew on the coffee table
Cock pics in a disabled toilet! WTF?
Dirty clothes on the floor
Wall paper peeling off
Dirty wall
Mould on walls, window sills, ceilings, in fact mould anywhere, except in cheese (and that stinks! lol)

No background for me, it's 99% neutral backdrop and where I can't get the shot its minimalistic and almost unidentifiable from clever edge blurring.
Unless any sharp eyed sleuths have spotted a rogue sock lying around whereas I'm mortified and deeply embarrassed and can't apologise enough. |

"Yes some people's houses are shit holes "
This! I don't care how hot you are, if you can't structure your pics to at least convey that you're tidy, don't bother.

People with streaky mirrors shouldn't throw shade "
Glad I'm not the only one who got distracted by the streaky mirror |

"And what may I ask is wrong with a dado rail?
A Malapropy friend always refers to them as dildo rails.
"
It would be like having pine furniture. One simply does not have these things in one's house. |

Personally I think this is the worst homes under the hammer series I’ve seen yet. There’s always naked bloody people blocking the view. How can I judge the flock wall paper and shagged sofas when Doris has got her norks in the foreground. |

I'm obsessed with making sure our photos are neat and tidy (not that our house is a tip). I forensically check what's in shot/reflection and adjust accordingly. I don't understand why people want to project a mucky image |

I'll never walk around a National Trust property with a straight face again. |

Its very off putting. The most recent one i have seen was a filthy carpet,3some on the go on the sofa which was full of kids toys. Must of been uncomfortable but i guess the toys are wipe clean unlike the carpet |

"Hmmmm. Where do we sit on the background messiness scale? "
It’s all very worrying isn’t it .. having made a brash comment I had to dive of and check my own backgrounds !!!
There was an earlier thread entitled “ When to keep ones gob shut “ .. perhaps this was one of those moments .
I think yours are ok although I did pick up on a pine headboard .. sorry |

I think we do need to remember not everyone has a gloriously decorated house with oodles of storage space.
My house looked mega riffy before it was decorated.
I'm not lazy.
I'm not dirty.
My house was simply a shit hole that I couldn't afford to decorate and it didn't matter how much I scrubbed it it still looked rotten and left me feeling deflated.
So mess, yeah, move it out the way but as far as decoration goes, I know how hard that can be to sort out, and without the wonderful friends I have who carpeted my house for me for my Christmas present, well I'd still be walking on paint splattered floorboards.

Yes we hate this. Obviously everyone can't have a show home (us included) so we do try to tidy up a bit or at least move clutter out of shot when we take pictures.
There's nothing more distracting than an untidy room. |

I'm glad I'm not this harsh! Yes I wouldn't meet someone who doesn't think much about their photos but I don't judge as harshly! Maybe their mental health isn't that great at that moment, maybe taking the photo maybe made them feel a little better ... there also are a couple of conditions where people can't actually see the mess! Plus not everyone does live in a show home, maybe their situation isn't very good at that moment in time, perhaps their landlord is a bit of a bastard? Who actually knows what is going on in another's life at that snap shot moment?
I just choose just to move on and hope life will improve for them! |

I tend not to judge people on how their house looks people have different standards to what others think are acceptable and not but as per fab is full of people who love to judge others because they are so perfect |

Yes, I read a lot of profiles that say "must be clean" and I am! I hoover, mop and tidy up on a regular basis. |

Oh we are such a judgemental lot aren't we
But I have to agree with the majority here, if they can't take the time and effort to present themselves in the best way for a photo, what makes you think they'll make the effort if you meet? |

Have to agree. Yes, ok, there are reasons people's houses might not be great, but even those who can't afford a posh house or who lead busy lives, if they can find time to pise for selfies I'm sure a few more seconds to straighten the duvet or pick up the washing strewn on the floor. If you're going to the effort of posing, I don't know why you wouldn't try to look good - or at least have enough self awareness to realise that a messy background reflects badly, whether they agree or not. It shows a willingness to make an effort, to be bothered. If they can't make that few seconds of effort for a selfie, it makes me wonder what they'd be like on a meet. |

Yes, especially on straight dating sites. I look at the background, and often think, if that's the state of your home, when did your pussy last see soap and water. There's a couple around here are noted for turning up at meets, and the first thing that she asks is to use the toilet. If it's not up to her standards they leave. Fortunately mine passed the test. |
