"Might be controversial but i was wondering if the word curvy is mostly over used. I feel there is a difference btw curves and fat. What do you think?"
I would argue the same about the use of the word athletic being mostly over used. What do you think? |

It’s how the individual sees themselves and not up to anyone to judge .. everyone should be supported in feeling good about themselves .. after all it’s the whole person that counts |

"The question doesn’t bother me but the wink at the end just makes the OP nasty and rude
His curvy fingers could have slipped on the emoji bar "
People can label themselves how they like. If I don’t agree with it well it’s not an issue. I either like person or I don’t.

For me in my not so expert opinion, the difference is all in the mind of whoever is deciding if somone is curvy or 'fat'.... I class myself as curvy, I don't feel when I look at myself oh god I'm soo fat I need to work out more but some people would definitely look at me being a size 14 as fat and not curvy and that's fine... |

Hardly controversial.
If you've got eyes in your head you can look at pix and make up your own mind I guess.
People are free to describe themselves as they wish.

Body size is purely visimual. As a bigger(fatter) bloke I have no complaints as far as I am aware if and have friends and acquaintances of all sizes and shapes. Sex is a mental more than visual activity if it is done correctly, as long as people are clean and respectful what does size matter. How many people on here narrow the chance of wonderful sex because of pre conceived thoughts of body shape and ability to be good in bed? Narcissists are notiriously selfish in bed and quite a poor partner |

It's more about the shape id define curvy as being a hourglass shape
Yes you can be a size 8 and curvy
You can also be a size 18 and curvy
I notice people that discriminate people for there weight
Have the biggest weight issues themselves
Beauty comes in all shapes and size

Pretty much all in the eye of the beholder. I don't pay much attention to the size people describe themselves as, I've often seen curvy women who I would say are slim with large boobs, and bbw women who I'd judge to be curvy. Likewise, I say I'm average but some would possibly say large. At the end of the day, pictures say more than words and I won't judge others so I don't ask them to judge me. |

"I am curvy and slim. Does it really matter?."
Curvy is classically used to describe a small waist, and wider bust and hips. The hourglass shape.
It’s been used to describe bigger people with convex rather than concave midriffs for a while now. FabSwingers has one descriptor for curvy. They need two... the two definitions above are wildly different and when searching, you want to know you’re searching the right body type for your attraction. |

Agreed you can be curvy with different dress sizes. Curvy to me is the literally curvy to the body, I choose that label for my bum n boobs whereas a few years back I classed myself as Athletic because I had more muscle definition and less curves (much happier now) |

I think more people (male and female) could choose the description ‘large’ or ‘ample’ for their profile, but then; their pics do give a better idea of their actual shape....
Ultimately; attractiveness is in the eye of the beholder, but banter/connection seals the deal |

I don’t think it’s controversial at all, I think it’s the same old body shaming crap that people have been pushing for ages because they think putting others down makes them look better.

Yes !
It goes from slim fit (like runners/cyclist) to large ( body builder ) and some dads bodies and. thats perfectly fine as I rely on pics .
I describe myself as curvy because there isn't a "a bit lardy" option , I'm hoping that my current pics offer a accurate representation of my appearance.

Curvy is a shape, not a size.
Any size can be curvy.
People often get confused by this. My body shape is “curvy” because of my bustxwaistxhip ratio, I’m still fat. You can absolutely be both. |

Exactly.
It’s all about the ratio, if your ratio fits into the “hourglass” shape, then regardless of your dress size your shape is hourglass and that makes you curvy. |

It is different, not judging anyone but most of them who claiming themselves curvy are actually fat, again nothing wrong about few extra kilos...in case this is latin American version of fab then curvy will make sense |

Here’s the definition for anyone who may be confused -
curvy
/'k??vi/
Learn to pronounce
adjective
having curves.
"curvy lines"
INFORMAL
(of a woman's figure) shapely and voluptuous.
It is not a dress size. If it were one would be mentioned. Almost every woman regardless of size has curves whether she’s fat or not. |

Athletic is a term definitely over used by men who plainly aren't. Athletic is not about being slim for a man. It should only describe people who are toned muscular or lithe. But I agree the terms should be removed from profiles and let others decide.
I don't like the term fat even if it's true because it can be hurtful and critical.

Curvy means you have an hourglass-shaped body. A woman's “curves" refer to the swell of her hips and breasts in comparison to her waist. So it really doesn't matter how skinny or fat you are, as long as your breast and hip measurements are bigger than your waist measurement then you qualify as curvy. |

I don't care really, I know what I like and I like what I know.
I'd never up undermine anyone's description of their shape.
Creative license and all that jazz...
We all have curves one way or the other...
Anyhow the scenic route can be interesting to some while others prefer to be on a straight road..

Curvy is someone who has confidence. Fat is someone running themselves down and lacks confidence.
We all lack confidence at some point or other. Just about different things. |

This is one of the funniest topics that comes up in these forums.....
Let’s dispel some nonsense.....
A male cannot be curvy...
If you have a belly when you stand up , you have to suck in your stomach when taking pictures or you have to take pics from different angles to hide your wobbly bits... You’re fat not curvy.......
I’m not saying anyone is not beautiful if you’re fat , but this curvy is a shape non sense is getting out of hand....
If people want the truth about if they are fat or curvy.... Ask a family member or close friend....
Not a bunch of horny men online.... |

I’d say curvy means you have curves that are in proportion and fat means overweight/ extra padding it all depends on the context of how it’s said too. The fat word can be seen as insensitive or rude. I think they are better descriptors. Like some of the above have said if there was a fat option, to describe oneself, I too would have chose that, I personally am more than curvy and didn’t find an option that I felt was accurate so I chose fabulous because it was the biggest size. |
