Signal is shocking has been since I've been using it. Get messages days after they were sent. Takes month of sundays to send message with a picture. Get notifications to say you missed voice call but phone never rang. And top it off your on phone and chatting and keeps breaking up only hearing half the conversation. So my rating is 2 outta 10. Much prefer WhatsApp

I've been using Signal for a couple of years now. I really like it – simple, no frills, steady as a rock, open source, and doesn't profit from your data. Best messenger app out there, far as I'm concerned. I'm very happy to be ditching WhatsApp.

Also had Telegram suggested as well so it will be interesting to see which one comes out as the most used replacement for WhatsApp.

Telegram isn't end-to-end encrypted by default. The back-end code also isn't open source, so its security cannot be properly evaluated.
