Pampas Grass

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

Without wanting to sound like I’m flexing, I was talking to my gardener about getting some pampas grass for the garden, when she started giggling. When I asked what was so funny, she said “Don’t you know? That’s what swingers used to put in their gardens.”

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve heard the keys in the bowl one, but has anyone else heard about a connection between pampas grass and swingers? First time I’ve heard about it and I’m not exactly new to this...

Horrible stuff, there must be a reason for it though - seems like you've just discovered it

That’s interesting: my parents too. Now I’m beginning to wonder if there’s something they haven’t told me?! Better still, does that make swinging genetic?

Which comes first, the swinging or the grass? Do swingers just inherently like it?

Think it might have a genetic element lol. My dad and step mum are swingers. We don't talk but think he would find it funny. Mum thinks it's hilarious.

Us too ... makes me smirk when we drive in

It is a thing yes I believe so x

When we moved into this house there was some in the garden already ... a sweet little old lady owned the property before us (sweet? maybe not then ) ... we potted and kept some - it takes over otherwise I think xx

Northampton Somewhere

There was some in our front garden when we moved in, no point putting in the back garden is there?

I like it, the flowers are unusual, I suppose if you were so inclined you could use them.as a tickle stick!

It was a thing though, they didn't call it the swinging sixties for nothing!

They didn't buy their house there till their late 60's so I doubt it though they bought it because several of their neighbours bought second homes there ... Perhaps they all had orgies in the alps in the winter then off to the Cap in the summer

No just in gardens either , it's everywhere ... In the middle of roundabouts amongst vines ..instead of flowers and shrubs

A fair few in their 60s on FAB!!!

Am kidding you of course but swinging was common (in middle/upper classes) in 1920s and made a come back in late 50s/60s. Our grandparents might have been right amongst it LOL

Weirdly I think it would cool to know my grandparents were naughty! Am pretty certain my parents were - they regularly went to parties at Eureka in late 70s early 80s claiming to be “naturists” lol.
