Here is an honest question for trans women... ps in no way is this a judgement just I'm curious to know... so here goes..
If your trans and you are full time trans so to clarify you act dress and identify as a woman regardless if younhave had the operation of not---
Why would you not just say your a woman why the need to state your trans ???? As I have said this is a honest question no a dig in generally curious to know |

It’s a difficult choice to be sure and it seems that whatever you choose someone thinks you’re wrong for it.
I choose female as that’s what I am and if there was a trans woman option I would choose that but I don’t feel the tv/ts option describes who I am if that makes sense?
There seems to be so much interest and acceptance here for trans folk and that’s so great but it does seem like that interest stops post op
I leave a little footnote at the bottom of my profile if anyone cares to read that far lol |

"I have a question so a trans who hasn't had an operation where would they fall in being gay or straight?"
A trans person’s sexuality would fall in exactly the same category as any other person of their acquired gender |

So they could be straight or guy then? |

"So they could be straight or guy then?"
I don’t want to be “that person”, (I’m absolutely terrible for typos and autocorrects ) but I presume you mean straight or “gay”?
If so then you’re absolutely correct, there’s so many variations on the trans spectrum and just as many sexualities.

I (he) take a slightly different approach. A trans male or female are just that, a 'trans', so why identify as male or female? Surely you're trans female or a trans male. I don't understand the requirement to insist on being identified as the sex you're not born as.

Some great and informative answers
And it seems like so many things there seems to be no right or wrong answer. I'm guilty of treating many of the trans women that I chat to on the forums as women as that is how I view them and I hope that doeant cause any offence to them or others |

OP, from my observation, you treat us like any other human being, with respect and very nicely.
That is what many are looking for and for me, it is definitely good enough. |

With respect and that’s good! But yes I’d say every trans woman feels like a woman so. I think adding the Info about being trans is purely for transparency and being clear (nothing else really) |

First you have to understand that sex does not equal gender, they're different things. (even though sex informs gender pretty heavily) |

"Depending on the situation there can be a legal requirement to do so before sex.
This is not true
It is and I'd give you the source but I can't be bothered. Look it up yourself."
From memory the cases where this was an issue ( in the UK at least ) revolved around people that did not identify as another gender but admitted that they pretended to be another gender to entice others ( I.e. cat fishing).
Anyone in possession of a grc had absolutely no legal requirement to provide information for n their former gender, in fact the opposite becomes true in that it becomes illegal for anyone to disclose any such information without the authority of said person |
