I have rather thick pubic hair...

I shave using a lady shave as a razor causes terrible rashes for me =-O

I still suffer the odd rash and also ingrowing hairs that can turn into painful spots

Any advice how to keep smooth and pain free??

Tried waxing but never again

One of the ladies on here recommended one of those 'light-pulse' thingies. I had a look into it and bought one (half price luckily) so, I've only used it once so far on one leg and one inner thigh...and shaved the other side I got the usual rash on the shaved side but the zapped side has come back lighter already so not all spotty.

I'm hoping with frequent use it will make life easier

no matter

Get a barber to do it with a cut throat...

If you keep on with the waxing it will feel less painful. Take pain killers before you go and never do it around your period skin so much more tender then. Try different waxes ..the specialist will recommend the best for you.

I developed folliculitis very uncomfortable under arm and groin. So shaving isnt for me.

"Tried waxing but never again "

Why never again?? Was it the pain, or some sort of bad reaction...

If it was the pain of waxing I would say keep trying.. The pain gets less as the hair comes back thinner (well it did for me)

Does tend to be more painful when yo very hairy. Go to a place that specializes

and talk to the lady who does it.. another option is sugaring.. find a proper arab place again someone that does it all the time. I had a really nasty wax job last time she was dreadful bruised me badly and took off skin. ( she got the sack ) I didnt even get an apology... so do some proper research.

It really does get less painful the more you get it done... And over time the hair growing back gets finer. Def worth the initial pain IMO

If you ever venture into Manchester I can recommend a brilliant waxing place. I've never had a bad experience there yet, unlike other places I've been to. They have a good website so can pm you details if you're interested.

Try using hair conditioner sounds daft but it makes for an easier shave and leaves you smooth and soft

Definitely keep trying with waxing.

Make sure hair isn't overly long as the longer the hair the more painful.

Have a couple painkillers hour before.

Hot wax is best option for bikini area if it's available.

The hair does grow through thinner and gradually not at all in patches if you have it done regularly enough.

Good luck

No, it doesn't pull the hair out, it sends a 'light-pulse' to kill off the hair root. I bought the

'Philips Lumea SC2001/00 IPL Intense Pulsed Light Hair Removal System' cos you don't have to buy refills and it got good reviews... sorry I've not had it long enough to review it thoroughly.

I bought it on that very popular on-line shopping site, but just noticed it has gone up in price a bit from when I ordered mine

I have been getting IPL treatment for my bikini area. I have have 4 out of 6 sessions and I am now practically smooth, just a couple of patches left. I got it on special offer at the salon, 6 sessions for £99 but I will be buying my own as I want to carry on doing my armpits and legs etc and that would be too costly at the salon.

NoNo seems to work expensive but if you have a couple of friends club together and share (it works by heating the hair to kill the root)

My partner and I went to place in Bristol called Biothecare we also paid £99 as a special deal each, me for my stomach and Em for her bikini, both pretty much hair free after 6 visits. Em bought a use at home machine but didnt work very well so now goes there again and paid similar again directly by asking.
