Would you still think that if it was your car or your son/daughter's he knocked off the road while watching, fun is fun but there's responsibility too.

I wasn't negative to you, I referenced them. I do think their actions are silly, as long as they got their jollies fuck the impact if god forbid something happened...
It is reality, accidents happen. I not a health & safety officer just a normal guy who drives my car ( not perfectly ) but with as much consideration to road safety.
Now others will come on and say they like it and that is cool, their opinion...

no, I dont but then again you'll be able to predict an accident huh.....just expressing an opinion or is that not allowed unless its in agreement with you? Accidents happen due to not paying attention n quite frankly if you were looking long enough to see her flaqsh, lift her skirt n remove her underwear that doesnt sound like a glance to me |

A good driver is aware of what is going on all around & not what is just in front of them !!! If you ever want to know what it looks like from a truckers _iew then let me know. I'm sure you've driver loads but when you start doing 3000kms a week then I'll start to value your opinion. |

As I am a driver please allow me to comment... The thing is the more you do something the better at it you get so probably haven driven further in reverse than many car driver do in forward gears I say it is possible to do more than hold the wheel... Its the same for all of us, a rookie needs to concentrate a lot harder than an old timer. I am sure many of you find you can do your jobs in auto pilot! For a lorry driver its all about forward planning so you may think he/she is not concentrating but believe me they are. |

I'm in agreement with the woman flasher being irresponsible, but also that there's many other distractions when driving and that you have to be aware of.....the self righteous assumptions that the OP was having a good old look, driving and posting on the forums are the comments that get on my tits (not that they're out at the moment and I'm nowhere near a road )
I'll hold me hand up to gawking at accidents on the roads, smiling and pulling faces back at young kids waving outta the cars in front of me, changing the CD, and back when I was a smoker, lighting up - all just as distracting and potentially accident-causing maybe??? |

No, personal injury, resulting in someone's negligence.
Just heard on the news two year old dead and parents fighting for their lives as truck driver rammed into them on motorway, he's dead too. Wonder if he was distracted by someone flashing? |

firstly in my opinion the woman was iresponsible for flashing .deliberatly distracting other drivers ! takes a split second for accidents to happen and most will have known people who have been in accidents or maybe lost someone dear to them . how op can belittle that is in fact beyond me ! i just hope hes never in that postion id wish it on no one . as for the arguement more you do something better you are .. utter rubbish !!!! some people are very good drivers ,some will never be good drivers no matter how much time on the road or training they have . also remember familiarity breeds contemt. that road you may drive day in day out is exactly the one youll let concentration slip on. i have no idea of your driving skills and sure you are very awear of whats happening but to think you are above accidents is at best gullible ..at worst arrogence !another thing is SHE has no idea how long youve been driving and how exsperience you are ..could of been your first day on the job lol ! also it doesnt matter one jot how careful ,awear or perfectly you drive its other drivers who can cause the issue ! yes if some daft bint is gonna get her muff out for you youd "glance" but dont think that wouldnt be long enough for something to happen on the roads, as such an exsperienced driver youd already know too well . |

he posted on a public forum and people answered. not everyone is going to agree.

That's just reminded me of coming back from a gig with my ex-husband's band, 5 of us in the lead singer's Trannie, the drummer driving, steering with his knees while he rolled a joint and the singer yelling "fux ache mate, slow the cunt down!" while the rest of us and all the gear was flung round the back......ah the immortality of youth |

See that is how us truckers do it. Its called hazard awareness and they can come from anywhere so its not just a matter of 'looking ahead'. Stiff necks cause more accidents than a stiff cock or nipple ever did ffs...
And as someone who has never caused an accident or damage to anything in 30 years trucking and 40 biking and in the car I think I can say it works for me. But you never know when it will happen TO you as I have found on 3 occasions. |

That's quite probably true regarding charges were I to have an accident and be honest enough to say "yeah, I was just sparking up a B&H Officer", and I most definately don't think I'm bullet proof; either I didn't word my response clearly enough or you maybe didn't notice that my first point was that the flasher was irresponsible.
The point I was trying to make was that folk were slagging off the OP for looking and some seemed to think he was posting on the forums whilst driving.....and that there are many other distractions which could potentially cause accidents.
As a driver of almost 30 years (cars only), I'd also say that those who've posted for drivers to keep their eyes on the road ahead - dead bloody wrong - you've got to keep your eyes all over the place as you never know where a hazard is gonna come from (pedestrians, animals on the road, dead bodies falling out of planes (no, sorry that was Con Air)) |

Before anyone points the finger of blame at anyone else, make sure you're hands are clean.
How many of you have used your phone while driving?
How many of you have eaten or drank hot drinks while driving?
How many of you have fiddled with the radio stations/music cd's whilst driving?
How many of you have been distracted by people in your own vehicle?
How many of you have rubber necked when there's been an accident and swerved all over the road to get a good look?
There wasn't an accident, nobody was hurt, it wasn't the safest thing to do but neither is sex.
Just have fun folks and crack on with your day |

I wish I had been bullet proof when the d*unk driver smashed my legs and pelvis and put me in a wheelchair for 6 months...and the blind Peugeot driver who pulled across a dual carriageway in front of my bike and put me in Addenbrookes intensive care unit ...
All I am saying is that driving a truck is more than 'looking straight ahead' and its all about hazard awareness and defensive driving keeps me (and therefore people like you) safe.
Ffs the OP posted a tongue in cheek comment and suddenly its a bloody drama and 'know it alls' have him NOT paying attention to the road, tapping away on his lappie and steering with his cock.
Any Audi and BMW drivers making said comments?.. |

Truck drivers are incredibly skilled, only a few idiots let them down but the task of driving a truck is ot a simple one.
Next time you see a hulking big vehicle behind you, respect the driver a bit more. |

Next time you see a hulking big vehicle behind you, respect the driver a bit more.
I don't call truck drivers who drive on peoples tails highly skilled....plus people need to earn respect , it isn't compulsory....but I suppose those are for two more threads.
I could do wi a truck on my tail right now pmsl "

I did mention that they have idiots behind them too, like everything else in life.
Anybody who tailgates is a danger.
I have a rule on the road that I should never let a HGV come close to my rear or get sandwhiched in by them. "
Me too....they are way too big to be sat in my back seat
So a question for truck drivers....why do they drive without respecting stopping distances? |

They do.
If you slam the breaks on a HGV the tail slides out.
Or they end up crushing your car and you go splat. If you think our truck drivers are bad dont ever go to Asia.
The Top Gear India special highlighted the danger of them and that was just 1 road. |

Who says we don't? And do you know what the stopping distances are for each type of truck and whether it is fitted with ABS, ABS II or EBS? And I must do as I have never hit anyone in any of the trucks I have driven in the UK or on the Continent. And statistically trucks are the safest vehicles on the road. Well British ones are... |

Behaviour like that when driving - especially on motorways is plain bloody silly and dangerous and not in the slightest bit funny.
Sorry to be a fly in the ointment but such behaviour should not be encouraged or condoned |

erm ...so you never look out of your car windows then?

Who said the OP was NOT holding his steering wheel?

I think there was a hint of sarcasm in the post. |

I think maybe an apology wouldn't go amiss for doing what you are accusing the poster of. |

I think 1, maybe 2 mentioned the OP, the rest mentioned the flasher as being foolish...
the flasher....
The OP was just driving his truck to what I can only assume a very high standard and someone drove up with the intent to distract him.
and I personally thought she was foolish.. |

Because you know that it could not be 2 feet your implication is that trucks do that and so I read your comment as possibly sarcastic? Forgive me if I am wrong but I am sure it wasn't female innocence .. |

No it wasn't me being innocent, it was me proving a point
Thats how close some trucks drive to you and why I tend to avoid being infront of them at any point.....so I am guessing they don't respect the stopping distances that are in the highwaycode book

MOST do, unfortunately, like in every part of life, there are morons that dont, and thusy end with us all being tarred with the same brush.
saw one of the countries finest (im sure you all know which company i am on about) tailgating a poor woman on a dual carriageway. she was doing 50 and he STILL wanted her out the way, even though thats our legal limit.
me personally? NEVER break the speed limit in the truck. why should i? i get paid by the hour, not by the delivery.
and i have seen things that would make your knicker elastic snap, but distracted?
no more than anyone would be by looking at nice scenery, or changing radio stations, so those that are lambasting a driver for seeing more than just what is in front of them, please do remember, we are trained to see more than just the leading edge of our bonnet (unlike a hell of a lot of car drivers) |

Actually, I think overall a good thread as it reflects a wide range of _iews, support for fellow posters, on the whole respect for difference and I think that is what makes the forum a good place.
People should post what their opinion is and not be frightened to, I posted early and although it differed from yours... I never showed you any disrespect.... People had a different _iew from me... and that is also cool
all in all, I have enjoyed interacting with you. thank you |

"I'll bet the negative people work as health & safety officers !!! Bloody fun police
Now others will come on and say they like it and that is cool, their opinion...

im a truck driver, the amount of people who think a 44 tonne truck can stop as quick as their car is shocking
as for slip roads on m ways, cars i dont move over for them at all,im not slowing down for them when all they need to do is put their foot down.
they peob dont even know we are stuck at 56 max
it is fun bullying cars who try do do stupid trick around you haha
ilter lanes are a fav, there no way you coming around me,and cutting in making me stop.
a trip in a truck would make car drivers think a bit more when driving near trucks |

it was another thread on this forum only a few months ago that I learned that... I had no clue.
so when I am stuck behind one trying to overtake another lorry, instead of huffing puffing... I now know.
so for the information you learn on here from other people. |

some are 52 or 53 also depending on the firms policy.
the reason you can stuck behind on duel carridge ways is if say my truck does 56 and the one in front is limited to 55 its a pain in the arse to keep letting of the acclerator.when on a duel road its easiest to just be flat out,so the truck doing only 1 mph less is getting in the way. |

"Well you brace your feet against the floor & lift you hips !!! It ain't fucking rocket science !!!"
I hate to say it but no way would I do that whilst trying to control a vehicle at 70 mph! In fact not at any speed, no-one is worth me losing my life for nor anyone else just to get turned on |

thank you, I had no clue and I think you may be right with the lack of knowledge.
Once I knew, I then noticed some information is posted on the back of lorries stating this vehicle does not exceed xxmph but it had just not filtered in before |

The guy came on here wrote a fun light hearted thread and then some know it alls start telling us about the latest road tragedies on our motorways and how one should drive... I think we all know the probable dangers so instead of boring us half to death maybe you should have created your own health and safety post and allowed this guy to have his moment. |

Ok, my 2p's worth having read the whole of the thread!
Yes, lorry drivers are highly skilled. My grandfather drove for the BRS for a long time. He was one of the lucky ones, never in accident.
BUT ...... only twice has any member of my family been in an accident on the motorway, both involving lorries.
Firstly, my mum. Overtaking a lorry on motorway, he didnt use his mirrors and pulled out on her. Wrote off her car. Thankfully the road was pretty quiet and she was lucky not to be hurt.
Secondly, my daughter's father, been split up for over 10 years. But he was doing his job on the hard shoulder, he was a "RAC" "AA" type for a local company. Under the car fixing it. Lorry driver was looking at his phone and drifted into the hard shoulder, hit the car and killed my ex outright.
Everyone on the road has a duty of care, from the push bikes, to the huge lorries and everyone inbetween. |

it's worth more than 2p it's ok to have fun but having fun should not hurt anyone and that includes having accidents |

It was reported in the paper that a guy has been given a £60.00 fine and had to attend a driver awareness course.
He was charged with drving without due care and attention.
His offence, turning round to look at a girls bum who was walking on the street and he was photographed by traffic police. |
