I'm writing a book about swinging, sex, life and the universe. More factual, instructive and autobiographical, rather than "he came hard against my thigh" style. Up to 110k words so far, which makes it a long paperback. And the end isn't in sight.
I spoke to a very wise gay guy about writing a book about sex. "Ah" he said. "You can't write a book about sex. You might be able to write a small library about it.".
Are there any other authors here with whom I can swap ideas? And is there anyone, ideally female to counterpoise my male outlook, who'd like to review chapters? Pretty please? |

I take your point, although the book is not purely autobiographical. I suppose a better way to look at it is that I don't want to remove 50% of the potential readers. I'd like to write in an accessible style that will allow both male and female readers to get something from the book. I hadn't appreciated until I started how difficult that is. For all the other criticisms, E. L. James did a great job of writing a book, 50 shades, that was equally accessible to both sexes, and I'm trying to take a lead from that. |

OP! the criticisms were vaild!it may be accessible, but God it was hard to read (if nothing else) as it was so damned execrable. - the style. The 'characterisations'. I wanted to bang my head against a wall after ten pages!
Maybe not a helpful comment, but surely you can aim higher! |

I've been writing a book for sometime. Mine is autobiographical but dressed up as fiction. My goal is to finish it and somehow publish it by the time I'm 40. It will likely end up an amazon self publish that no one will read but still, I'll have done it.
I think the best writing comes from the soul. Write what you live, feel and know.

Have to agree. The Story of O by Anne Desclos would have been a great source of inspiration. |

Pauline Reage was brilliant. ...an academician to boot. The Story of O is sparsely written and intensely erotic. |

Have to agree, a book which made a long lasting impression upon our own personal relationship.
