Asking for extra verification
Jump to: Newest in thread
We're thinking of starting to ask for extra verification, ie a face pic with a bit of paper with our initials on, as we seem to get loads of verified requests that want to chat and swap pics but then go quiet. Does anybody else do this, or just accept things at face value? |

Entirely your prerogative to ask but we'd balk at the feel of jumping through hoops.
We trust in veri's and accept theres lots of talkers and wishful thinkers on here and more so since covid but it's worth the time invested to sort the chaff from the wheat to find the real gems. |

We look at their verification trail, if they're from people who have met before and have good references from 'solid' fabbers who have been here a while, seen and done that then we'll engage. Any inclination they're slightly messing then we're out. It's an approach which has served us very well. |

Another way is to ask them to stick their tongue out or hold up their middle finger etc. Or have something random in a pic. It soon gets rid of the time wasters. Great pics OP btw . You guys look hot |

I reckon it's fair to ask if you are getting to the point of replying and looking to meet. Always helps with making sure photos are current and the people in the shots are who will be walking through the door. I don't think it will stop those that get to the point of a meet being aranged and then ghosting though. |

I think it's fair enough to ask. We never have been asked it or have asked anyone ourselves but if we had doubts we would. I can usually tell pretty early on if it is a fake account or being lead purely by the man.

Think that’s a brilliant idea. |

I'm not sure if I'm too trusting as I've never asked for any extra pics or verifications! Even with people I have been really interested in meeting or have met.. all turned out legit and genuine.. suppose you can get a sense if people are sincere.. If their approach isn't then I wouldn't want to be engaging with them.

I have been asked for an extra pic with an identification item. The trouble is it takes me about an hour to get myself ready. As a result, the people requesting it give up.
It's not as easy as you think it might be,

It might be a good idea for say them with only very few veris, but even them with plenty can be deemed a time waster by simply losing interest. I personally loose interest in people if theres a full game of message pingpong on the go. |

you may ask for anything you like by way of extra verification, within reason of course, as long as you're prepared to provide a similar form of photo.
If someone asked us to do that we'd politely refuse and wish them well. |

Thanks guys
Great responses here - it's sad as we know for sure there's legit peopel on here who wouldn't want to do an extra veri, but it does seem hard work getting through to legit people, especially without clubs being open... |

I will not swap pics... stops this sort of thing happening.
If someone isn't satisfied that I am genuine after chatting long enough to establish a report, they can request whatever they like. However, it's highly unlikely that I would comply. |

We have all our veris showing as nothing to hide. A lot are purely social . The problem is the ones that have veris but don't show them. We know it's a pain but over the years we have sussed out the fakes and wannabes. We feel your pain. If it seems too good to be true it usually is |

A bit surprised by how many people are saying they wouldn't do this! Personally if someone explained the situation and why they wanted me to do it, I'd be more than happy to spend the extra 30 seconds proving I was legit. |

You can ask people to jump through hoops but people might thin kits you who is the time waster. Just ask to go on cam and chat its easier all round. |

A lot of people get bored of talking / run out of things to say or decide the other people aren't their kind of hot. An extra type of verification won't change that. - and picture verification with FAB is basically doing that for you anyway.
We find some people stop chatting after seeing our faces, but we try not to dwell on that because every so often we do the same.
Basically everyone is a law unto themselves and no amount of message filtering is going to change the behaviour of others. |

It does no harm to ask.. We've been here years, have varied veris and are photo verified. Personally if we were asked to do certain things we would politely decline. If people think of us as ungenuine, that's their problem. |

that's entirely up to you .
I tend to think its quite rude to assume that we're not genuine while expecting us to take you at your word.
I understand that people get fed up of dealing with people who aren't who they say they are but they also have to understand that a lot of genuine people won't want to provide extra verification |

It's your prerogative to ask and also theirs to refuse. It wouldn't mean they are fake. I know if I was asked to do that I'd refuse point blank. I won't jump through hoops to meet anyone and anyone who would expect me to is not someone I'd want to meet.
Surely if you chat to people you get a feeling of they are genuine or not. It's gets pretty easy to spot time wasters or fakes after a while. If you start to have doubts then just leave it.
On the other hand there are people who would be willing to do what you ask as well. So really the choice is yours as to if you ask. But also be prepared for people to say no or stop chatting if you do. It's the wonderful world of fab not one thing works for everyone. |

I've tried something like this before if I don't get the feeling that those messaging are genuine although I asked for something theyre not likely to have pictures of already like touching their left ear with their little finger etc.
What I an say though is that this couple are totally genuine as I went to visit them when they first got onto Fab as they were wanting an initial verification and they're both lovely people, as genuine as they come and look exactly like their pics |

Not sure an extra verification would stop that from happening OP
You're entitled,of course, to ask for anything you wish but anyone asking this (or any other type of hoop jumping) of us would be met with a refusal |

I wouldn’t have a problem doing this. As long as you’d be willing to do the same. It’s all about being confident on both sides that the other person is real. |
