do what works for you.... I tend to get out in the winter unless it is icy and snow....which we get little of... I have a turbo but I don't use an online service as I have only ridden 40 kms on a turbo in the past 2 years.... getting a CX bike and mixing up trails and road keeps me out there... have fun |

"At least fellow non-cycling fab users have a group to target now haha!

Lesson time!
There has been 'road tax' since the 1930's, it is called Vehicle Excise Duty. It is a tax based on the amount of emissions that your vehicle produces, due to a bicycle not having a motor there is no emissions.
'Road tax' as you call it, could be abolished soon. It will be replaced with a charge for how far you travel, bicycles will more than likely not have to pay that charge.
There is also no legal requirement to have insurance, as the Road Traffic Act, state motorised vehicles must have the relevant insurance cover.
Hope this helps. |

I used to live on the outskirts of St. Helens. I had a lovely little circuit, crank, Shalley Brow, Appley Bridge, Ashurst Beacon and back along the Rainford by pass.
I did it every night for 5 years as part of my training, when I used to time trial. |

All correct!
I have had the 3rd party insurance offered from British Cycling (formerly named 'BCF') for the best part of 30 years
IF any RTC/personal injury is deemed to be my fault, it pays
Equally, they work to recover costs for me, if l am the victim
(damage to bike/clothing, personal injuries, loss of earnings, etc..)
I get (l think..) £10million of liability cover for less than a £/week!!!
It's generally a prerequisite that club members have it (road clubs, can't answer for MTB clubs), before being involved in club rides
Can we not let this degenerate into a 'us v them' conflict though please? |

Road cyclist but found myself with a new FS enduro and an xc race bike so road stuff is being sold. Can find me slowly wobbling down the local hills. |

Fantastic ride this morning. Road's were only damp but the countryside was stunning with everything coated in white. Anyone else managed to get out and brave the freezing weather. |

Ridden over Whinlatter on the road, a couple of years ago
(also run in the forest)
I was out for a couple of hours, on local roads, but nothing too far |

Interested, for the company maybe, as I'm normally a 'lone wolf' rider |

Not today - but have been out most evenings this week. Gritted roads and bike washed down after every ride - and full winter kit on inc balaclava!! |

I switched from treadmill running to path/trail cycling when the gyms first closed. Nothing fancy, just a cheap mountain bike. I have a route just under 10 miles close to where I live that I can do barely touching any roads.. |

If there are any near you (we had a few till recently) try a cyclo-cross to hone your skills
I raced it for quite a few years, & can still get further in the woods on '28 section' road tyres than some of local MTBer |

Went out yesterday too, possibly the coldest I've ever been on a bike. The last couple of miles were horrendous as my hands and feet were numb. But was a lovely ride and barely a soul out there, car or otherwise |

Went out yesterday on the MB, couldn’t feel my hands after 5 minutes! Have since invested in some proper gloves... back on the turbo trainer later, bit warmer! |

Unfortunately I can’t ride until I get the OK from the Dr. Trying to build up my base fitness again after time out is hard work and I’m struggling to motivate myself sometimes knowing how much effort it’s going to take! Damn injuries! |

Concussion was the worst.
Broken foot wast ideal either |

Yes I cycle, mainly road bike but occasionally the mountain bike comes out of it’s going to get a bit dirty!
Would be sexy to know if there are any females north west / north Wales that put the Lycra on, even sexier if I found out that they were members of the cycling club |

Think I may have fractured a vertebrae so just waiting on radiologist report. I didn’t even do it whilst riding! Ha ha |

Last ride was boxing day, and resulted in a crash, and a huge bruise covering my bum cheek, hip and leg. First crash of the year was on the last ride of the year, so not bad really haha
Although the pain only stoped a couple day's ago haha |

Just got my new F12 home after it's just finished being built. Frustratingly it's gone straight onto the turbo as it's not going out in this weather. |

If I had a new F12 it wouldn’t go anywhere near the turbo! |

Agreed, I broke a very nice frame years ago, manufacturer wouldn't agree to warranty claim as had been on a turbo. Bought a set of insideride rollers for my indoor stuff. |

Got it on an Omni rocker, which is not only more comfortable but because of the movement doesn't have the same fixed stresses. |

I was looking to make something like that, there’s quite a few guides on how to do it much cheaper than the omni rocker. |

If you're a handy carpenter, it's probably well doable. I couldn't make one. Makes longer sessions on the turbo so much more comfortable. No sit bone pain. It's like doing the hours on the road. |
